Probably the best known zoo in the country…tucked away in Regents Park, is a delight for all the family.

The zoo is quite small, but well designed and thought out. There is a large selection of animals, from reptiles through to giraffes. There is also a fairly new gorilla enclosure.

A great day out in London for the family!

this is definately worth a visit as a pleasant family day out. it is a little expensive to get in although you can use offers like 2 for 1 if you travel by rail etc. the animals are all pretty nice and there is a good variety. its a great place to take the kids for a day out or to go for a picnic on a summers day. if you are nearby give it a go although dont make an entire day of it.

Definitely worth a visit, especially for the Londoner (as opposed to tourists!). Great family day out, the zoo is actually fairly small but beautifully done, all the animals look clean, healthy and happy - and there is a fantastic range of animals, from the small insects right up to the beautiful giraffes! There are also good amenities (though unsurprisingly overpriced!) - a restaurants, various souvenir shops, plenty of toilets… Just a fun day out for the whole family!

London Zoo is small but perfectly formed. Tucked away into a corner of the beautiful Regents Park it is a fantastic day out no matter how old you are.

Although it is a little pricey to gain admission and it is probably worth bringing a picnic - and some money for an icecream- it has wonderful friendly and helpful staff, a great range of animals and some excellent features. I loved the reptile house, acquarium and the “walk-through” areas where you could walk amongst birds, gorillas or butterflies. It made me feel like a child again as I stared in wonder at beautiful animals and was a lovely place to spend a day. super.

At £17 for an adult admission, London Zoo is a fairly expensive day out. I also found it quite tricky to find and quite a trek from Camden station - although it didn’t help that I walked in the wrong direction for nearly twenty minutes before I thought to look at a map! The zoo is quite small but it does have a good range of animals, and the staff are really good - they really know their stuff. They run various activities throughout the day - you can watch the animals get fed and listen to talks about them. The zoo is great for photo opportunities and family days out. However, I’d stick to visiting on nice, sunny days as most of it is outside, with little shelter from the rain and cold.

If you are thinking of visiting the Zoo in London then this really is your best bet. The zoo comprises of many animals, from reptiles to gorillas and tigers. They are all great to see, but as you can expect from a city zoo the space is somewhat limited, so you do not really get to see the animals running around as much. For that it is best to visit its sister zoo, Whipsnade, outside of London. However, this is still a great day out, there are plenty of things to see, and kids will certainly love it. There are some shows where they often bring out rare animals, and there is also an opportunity to hold and touch some of the snakes if you feel brave! I particularily enjoyed seeing the gorillas! Good within the park is slightly expensive, so bring a packed lunch if you are on a budget!

London Zoo, Amimal Adventure

For an amazing animal experience for all the family, I can recommend Animal Adventure, ZSL London Zoo’s new £2.3m exhibit.

Animal Adventure, our new children’s zoo, allows children the chance to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, smells and experiences of life in the animal kingdom.

This brand new family attraction lets children climb, tunnel, splash and touch in a special environment that brings fun and learning to life.

A great day out whatever your age

This is a decent sized zoo. The only problem is, unlike whipsnade, their sister zoo, there is not much space for the animals.
There are lots of variety of animals, from reptiles, snakes, insects to monkeys, lemurs and lions, etc.
It is always fairly busy, especially at weekends. They have various shows, for rare animals and birds. They also do feeding times for some of the animals suc as the penguins.
They have activities for children to do.
It is definately a full day out.
The food places are fairly expensive and they also have shops, which have a large variety of priced item in.
They also have facilities for wedding.

we all as a family have been to this zoo and the children loved it there was more to see and do than we had anticipated and we were kept busy all day. as with most places like this it is expensive to feed a family here but you have the optio take your own food. this was made up for by the incredible animals we were able to see.

An averaged sized zoo. It is a great day out to take the kids, I would look for entry deals so you do not pay the full price for everyone going. The best bit of the zoo is going to the snake enclosure filmed for the Harry Potter movie. The Gorillas were nice to get close to but the area is small in comparison to some zoos for them to roam around.

This zoo is the best in London, its’s really big and there are a number of lines drawn on the ground which you can follow to get a good view of everything and get back to the entrance without losing yourself. There a number of shops and all of the exhibits seem to give the animal plenty of space. No safari like area though. Lots of shows on throughout the day and there are staff there to teach you about the exhibits. There are some children’s areas that children can play in and it’s always a fun day out for families, individuals or school. it’s expensive though!

Although a compact zoo (not surprising considering it is stuffed into one corner of regents park in central london) London zoo has an impressive range of habitats and animals on offer. Not least is the latest exhibit of three gorillas which are simply stunning. Whether such animals should be confided to enclosures of this size is debatable. On the one hand it is unnatural and the animals often exhibit signs of unhappiness, on the other it raises awareness of the animal kingdom amongst the general public and encourages support for their many conservation programs. Either way it is an enjoyable and informative day out.

London zoo in Regents park really is a great day out but do feel sorry for the animals in their cramped cages. That said we especially loved the camel and rhino house, the giraffes, the huge walk through aviary, the monkeys, the Guy the gorilla statue (I saw him alive when I was 12 on a school trip) dark insect house eek and the polar bears ah. Took us over 6 hours to get round. Fully disabled friendly with good toilet facilities and blue badge parking outside on street but get there early as it goes quick.

Lovely zoo to go in summer. You can take a picnic or go to the cafe. There is a gift shop with a wide selection of gifts for all ages. There are toilets avalible around the zoo. There is sometimes the Friendly Spider Programme to help you over come your fear of spiders. As with all places like this steap price but worth it. Many animals to see including gorillas, monkeys and more.

With the help of some major investment, London Zoo has been able to change massively over the past few years. While the zoo will always suffer from too little space, I think they have done well in finally providing suitable enclosures for their animals. Unfortunately, they had to move some of their larger, more popular species such as the elephants to Whipsnade, but this was a good move. The new Gorilla Kingdom is absolutely fantastic, giving visitors the chance to see these primates close-up or roaming around their island. There are also several new walk-through exhibits, such as the African bird one through which you reach the gorillas, and the squirrel monkey experience, which gives you a chance to observe these animals without any annoying fences. The entry fee is not much higher than any other in London, but if you are a family or on a budget, it’s probably a good idea to take some lunch with you, as the food is quite expensive.

We really enjoyed our day at London Zoo. We had some 2 for 1 vouchers so it was a lovely cheap day out. Most of the big animals were no longer there. We had wanted to see the Elephants and bears only to find out that they no longer have any. The animals that we did see looked very healthy and well cared for .There is a great Australian enclosure with wallabies hopping around a 'desert’, we enjoyed the grumpy camels and the fantastic night animals. It is a bit like a concrete jungle and seemed to lack greener but non the less we had a great time.

A great place for a day out. There’s stacks to do; the place is well-designed and very kid-friendly; the animals appear to be cared for well; and whilst there is a bit of “tack” it’s fairly minimal. The only down-sides would be the price for entry (although it may worth searching the web beforehand for special offers you can print out at home) and the fact that it seems to be located in a little public transport desert -- the nearest tube station is simply miles away. Having said that, neither of these matter as much if you’re intending to spend the whole day there. All in all, well worth a visit.

The zoo rocks! no matter how old you are, its like you’re 5 again when you get into the spirit of things. Personal favorites include the anteaters (which are positively ENORMOUS) and the pygmy hippos (which are positively TINY). But other then that, you’ll get to see just about every type of animal. Its possible to do the entire place in a day, but be prepared for a LOT of walking.

Enjoyable family day out at London Zoo when visiting London recently. However, it is not as good as Chester and does not have any elephants (which disappointed my husband). We had a cheap day as we were able to use buy one get one free tickets which made it really good value. The attractions are good and we liked seeing the gorillas and the big cats, as well as the penguins. Food was even more expensive than usual in such places and I would not recommend any of the eating establishments we sampled - next time I would take a picnic.

I used to go to London Zoo regularly but haven’t been for quite a few years. My recent visit was a nice surprise because they’ve introduced walk-through zones where you can walk through an area and the animals are around you rather than being caged off. Obviously it only works with small, harmless animals that are smart enough to stay away from the humans, but it is special to have monkeys jumping around in the branches over your head or a humming bird hovering an arms length away.

Me and my girlfriend gained entrance with the help of a buy one get one free ticket and had an excellent day. We started off by looking at the never ending collection of fishes, very well presented and clean. There were shows on throughout the day which we attended, one with parrots being our personal favorite. The park itself is big with plenty to do for one day. Overall we were very pleased we made the journey.

I was quite surprised at how small london zoo is, especially incomparison to Chester zoo for example, when I first visited. That said, it’s a lovely zoo and makes for a wonderful day out for the family. They offer the usual zoo type animals with a little farm-type area with farm animals too. It’s a lovely walk if you’re staying close by and the cost is pretty standard to most zoo entrance fees. It can get really, really busy in the summer months for obvious reasons and I actually prefer to go on cloudy days to avoid feeling too hot and rushed when it’s too busy. There’s places to eat with a variety of different offerings depending on what you fancy to eat, which tend to be quite busy and there’s of course the zoo shop which offers lots of London zoo gifts. My favourite place is the reptile house and if you’re a Harry Potter fan you’ll find out why, it’s where they filmed Harry’s scene with the Brazilian Boa took place.

I didn’t have any expectation when I visited London Zoo this summer… we pre-booked the tickets and they are £13.90 per person, excluding donation. The visit turned out to be really fun and London Zoo was much nicer that what I have thought. It is pretty extensive and you will need one full day to walk round the entire site. The animals were really active when I was there… amazingly active as compared to many other zoos that I have been. The famous penguin pool was under renovation unfortunately… check if it has re-opened.

If anyone is considering visiting the London Zoo… I am all thumbs up!

My last visit to London Zoo was disappointing and expensive, despite a discount. Only a few penguins on view, and the once magnificent Bear enclosure was almost empty and the few exhibits were very hard to spot. The aquarium had less to see than my local pet shop. There was more construction than exhibits, though the monkey enclosure was exciting. Paradise Park offers much better value for money. The most enjoyable part of the visit was the boat trip out.

I’m afraid that we all found our trip to London Zoo quite a dismal experience. Firstly it is a very long walk from the nearest tube station and when you get to the pay booth it is hugely expensive. We went with two boys aged 10 and 12 years. The younger boy had quite a nice time but the activities on offer were not suitable for the 12 year old. The animals were very ordinary - lots of pigs and goats - and the zoo itself was very concrete. We saw nothing at the zoo that we hadn’t seen at Chessington World of Adventure. I could not recommend this as a suitable day out for anyone.

Kids really enjoyed seeing the animals was a bit expensive but it is in London so it was excpected. The food prices were quite high so take a picnic if possible. There are enclosed areas so it is good if the weathers not so good.

brilliant, the zoo isn’t huge but enough o keep you going all day without missing things like you tend to at big safari’s. nice shop also with plenty to choose from for the kids and adults alike. the restuarant had a good choice for either hot or cold. well worth a visit.

This place is full of animals great and small and come in pairs or even more. The zoo is the only zoo in London, and has plenty of variety. It is suitable for kids and adults alike and open and covered areas suitable for rainy or sunny days. The animals always seem happy to be there and not too couped up.

Expensive and not a huge selection of animals. Last time I visited the penguin enclosure had been moved. Very disappointing. The butterfly house and the newly opened Gorilla enclosure are the best places here. They also have meerkats, llamas and giraffes. I have never been that impressed as a kid or adult.

It is quite hard to find if you do not know that area of London.
I usually take the Northern Line to Chalk Farm and have a lovely short walk through Primrose Hill. You can also take the 274 bus which stops at the Zoo’s exit, leaving you to walk around to the entrance.
