These pick-your-own-food and we’ll cook it for you places never live up to the promise, in my book.

It’s good for fussy eaters who want to mix-and-match exactly the meat, veg, and sauces they want from the buffet. There’s a sort of social aspect to having to get up and select your meal ingredients, and then comparing afterwards to see what everyone’s created (and how it tastes), so it’s good for groups.

But the quality of those stir-fried meals never seems to go beyond “OK” for me.

This is one of those clever places I praise purely because they fool you into doing all the work all in the name of ‘experience’. And it’s brilliant - you merrily go up and pick the ingredients and sauces and spices you fancy (with guides suggesting spice combos for whatever you’re eating). You write your little name on a lolly paddle and go sit back down.

When your food’s done they’ll bring it to your table hollering for your name. Quite fun and like others have said - you have only yourself to blame or congratualte for your meal, which is kind of cool too.

Great for groups, very central, reasonably priced and extremely popular on weekends. More people = long queues and longer to wait for your supper.

This place is brilliant because it is so different- if the food is rubbish then you have no one to blame but yourself lol! The staff are helpful and smiley, you are not rushed, the decor is simple but fitting for the theme, it does not have the feel of the canteen even though you have to get up and down - and it is very reasonably priced.
The idea of the Mongolian BBQ is that you make your own food - well nearly! You go up to the counter where there is a range of meats, vegetables, sauces and alike - all uncooked. you put whatever in your bowl - then you hand it to the chef who BBQ’s it in front of you. I think i put chicken and pork in a beer sauce… don’t ask! :) so you see what i mean, if its rubbish its your own fault. The gem is that you get to go up as many times as you like… so you can keep perfecting your selections! Enjoy!

This place is a gem! Cheap and delicious food, friendly staff and you get to make your own dish! Great for the secret chef's within us all. Really good atmosphere, these guys have this process down to a T. It's very versatile too so you can go there before heading out for a nice formal meal or head there for casual meal on your lunch break. Be careful on time though because it is quite popular and the more patrons there are the longer you wait for your meal however, it's worth it! Have been here a few times now and loved it - good times! Plus you get better at creating your own meal the more you go. My advice? Do yourself a favour and give it a try with a group of friends, you won't be disappointed! Has great vegie choices and good wine selection too! Great value for money at this place.
