Simple, quick and fairly cheap, this isn’t a bad option for a lunch in the centre of Greenwich. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a wide choice of dishes available (not of the highest quality, but that’s reflected in the price). Just try not to be put off by all the stern warnings about being charged for wastage: I do appreciate the need to have a policy on this, but other buffet restaurants manage to be a little gentler. It’s a bit off-putting to have these reminders that the staff see you as a potential wastrel!
Also, do try make sure you go at a busy time. I’ve been at odd times twice now (mid-afternoon), and a lot of the food was noticably tired. Some items had even run out. Again, many buffet restaurants will just cook smaller quantities at slow times so that there is a full choice of appetising food. By contrast, when I’ve been at main meal times, the selection has been full and fresh.
So, if you want tasty food at a fairly busy time, this isn’t a bad choice: neither the best nor the worst Chinese buffet restaurant I’ve eaten at.

I agree with the other two reviews. This is a good place to eat decent Chinese food on the cheap. They have a huge range of dishes to choose from and it’s not crap. As a previous reviewer mentioned anybody that is used to Mr Wu will be very surprised at the difference.
However, there is a BUT which I have to deduct points for. If there was the option I would have given this place a 3.5 out of 5. I didn’t want to go so low as 3 so I opted for a 4.
The recently introduced tiny saucer sized plates. This is utterly ridiculous. Do they think people are going to eat less if they give you a tiny plate??? It’s insulting and it’s stupid. All it means is you will fit less on your plate which is annoying as I like to put tiny bits of many things on a plate. It also means you have to keep going back and forth to fill up your plate if like me you enjoy having little tasters of many things on the plate. It’s not a deal breaker, but it does mean that I went in search of other Chinese buffets, I’ll come to that in a moment.
The other thing is that it’s really, really basic. If you want to just sit, stuff your face, and leave it’s fine. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are on a date or you want somewhere with some atmosphere to it. It really feels like a canteen.
There are other and better places similar to this. I highly recommend the “Water Margin” in the O2 dome. It’s only a few pounds more ( about £5 I think ) but the food is of a much better quality, flair, and imagination. Also they include a bar of raw foods such as steak, prawns, veggies, noodles and so on that you can pile onto a plate and have a trained Chinese chef cook fresh in front of you while you wait! Also the place has a far, far nicer atmosphere and you could easy take a date here or go out for a nice meal with friends and family. Ah, and the plates are normal size!
There is also the, in my opinion, the ultimate in Chinese buffet food which is the Honeymoon in Tunbridge. The selection is far smaller then either of the previous mentioned places, but oh my… THE FOOD. You will be very hard pressed to find better. You don’t expect dishes such as chicken in a white wine and garlic sauce to appear in a buffet, but it’s typical of the sorts of dishes on offer and everything is cooked to heavenly perfection.
In summery if you are in the centre of Greenwich and you are hungry you can’t go wrong with the Saigon Buffet. It’s tasty, and it’s cheap with a great range of dishes to choose from. Even if you fancy a cheap night out and want Chinese food then you also can’‘t go far wrong with this place. Just bear in mind there is better out there and it’s not the place to go if you want just a little bit more style and atmosphere.

I agree with Siany’s review! It is a very basic ‘help yourself’ concept to food from the buffet cart. The food is replenished reguarly and is so busy that food is always fresh and hot. Unlike most other Chinese style buffets it does include the favourites (and often most expensive items from regular Chinese menus) such as shredded aromatic duck, with pancakes, spring onion, cucumber, hoisin sauce etc. and sesame prawn on toast, spring roles, rice dishes, noodle dishes, soups, sweet and sour, curry, BBQ flavour meats, chicken wings, vegetable dishes, seafood…the list goes on. There is also a small selection of flavoured chinese style jellies, ice cream and or fritters in syrup for dessert. Yummy. I highly recomend this for a good lunch feast especially if you want smewhere you can sit and eat while catching up on the gossip with a friend. It is also a tasty cheap way of treating a friend to lunch without breaking the bank! I’ll say it again yummy!
