Compliment

I've been to Lago two times at this point, always going with a group of other people. Being fairly new to Hamburg, I hadn't visited the beach clubs of the past before the "relocation". I have though been to beach clubs in Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Berlin. Outside of the fact that they are just called beach clubs, I never get the feeling of being at the beach. I get the feeling of being at a place to chill out somewhere in the "city", usually with a pretty cool view with sand somehow factored in. Lago definately is fun as there is an interesting view of ships passing by night and day. The bar, the pool, the sand, the party tent.........all very nice. Service is quite good and I haven't yet felt that there is anyone too arrogant. It's German standard though....no one will go out of their way. Again, I'd say nice and average. Prices are fine. Lots of people don't realize that at some beach clubs there is a door fee and Lago doesn't charge anything. The clientele is definately a bit "up-market" but I wouldn't say it's that posh. It's actually a nice mix and you won't feel uncomfortable with the people around you. Why only 4 stars then. I find the location fairly inconvenient. Granted that to get the view, etc. you need to be down near the "Hafen" but you basically have to drive there or take a cab (I don't "bike"). Also, the food is very mediocre but I wouldn't call this place a restaurant anyway so that's fine. Were it a bit more central and had a better ktichen, I'd give it five stars, but this point probably will bother the least amount of people. Go try it out if you haven't already because who knows if it'll be around next year.
