this shop was and still is my favourite butchers shop. before i emigrated to winsford in cheshire in 1967. and when i'm up in our town i always top up when going back home. and now i don't need to do that. as i order by phone or internet. and the food t/bone steaks and family steak pies sausages black pudding fruit pudding. beef ham. oh i could go for evermore. all brilliant food no doubt about it. keep up the good work. and remember you get what you pay for. archiedownie@hotmail.com

The meat at Collins is wonderful - fillet steak you can cut with a fork, pork that tastes like pork used to, lamb that melts in your mouth. You can go in as a complete beginner and just tell them how many you are cooking for and they will give you the correct amount and tell you how to cook it. I have never been disappointed with anything I have bought from here and my mum who was very fussy about her meat - used to rave about their silverside.

Two words, tomato sausages. Seriously I’m surprised no ones actually reviewed this place. Suffice to say from the first of December every day till Christmas there is a queue out the door and down the street towards the school. The longest I’ve seen it is half a mile.

They make their own sausages and they are fantastic. Hardly any fat and just wonderful. The black pudding is great too and I’ve never had a bad steak from here either. Worth the travelling honestly. The shop is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. If they don’t have it in they’ll order it in for you. Most of the time in December you’ll need to make two visits once to make your order and another to collect it.
