The Bull Pen Tea Rooms

I've been there 3 times and on each occasion they couldn't do a full cream tea. Apparently they'd run out this time, but at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon this is a joke? what's worse is that people seated and ordering after us were offered and received a full cream tea - what gives? 

Extortionate Prices and Rude Staff.

I visited this tea room today, having been recommended by a family member, and was very disappointed. The prices were extortionate:- £4.50 for a pot of tea for two and around £6.50 for a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. After seating us at an outside table, the rather impatient blonde waitress gave us about 30 seconds to peruse the menu before she asked to take our order. When I told her that we were not quite ready, she promptly told me that I could not smoke a cigarette, which I felt was unreasonable as we were seated in the open air away from other diners. When I commented that we were outside and not indoors, she became rude and aggressive. Since when do restaurants have the right to enforce their own laws on members of the British public? Neither myself nor my family and friends will be returning to this unfriendly venue.

Lovely little tea room, serving homemade cakes and proper tea. Numerous varieties of leaf tea available. It is very small and does get busy, so there can be a wait for a table.

Definitely somewhere to go for a quick tea and cake, rather than a meal. Due to its size don’t think you’d be able to go in large groups or with a lot of pushchairs (so Mummy meets out I’m afraid).
