Review of Forno Campo dè Fiori from 12 September 2011

We stumbled on this place, just happened to be checking out the Market at the Campo, which by the way, is a shadow of it’s previous self, based on all I’d read about it. The “Forno” has two doorways and I peeked into the one on the right and the baker was making pizzas and let me observe and take photos. I then went to the other door and walked into the retail part of the bakery. We bought two different kind of pizzas. They are made in large rectangular “sheets” and so in the case you indicate how much, what size you want to have them cut off. The pieces get folded and placed into a paper bag. It was at least a half hour later before we sat down in a little park on “Avenula”. The pizza was still warm and was so crusty, nice crunch to the tooth. This was the last day of a 5 week trip through the length of Italy. We had pizza in Naples at the famous “Da Michele”. The pizza from Forno Campo de Fiori was absolutely the best of the whole trip. Now I’m realizing, finding out what a great find. Every trip to Rome will take me back.

Review of Forno Campo dè Fiori from 28 April 2011

Absolutely incredible, with some of the finest pizza known to mankind and all freshly prepared and baked on the premises.

Yesterday I scoffed some amazing pizza bianca, swiftly followed by a generous helping of lusciously warm margherita that had my missus and I concocting such a symphony of sated ecstasy, that you'd have thunk we were overdubbing the soundtrack of a 70s porn flick.

They also sell bread, cakes and biscuits and this little spot on the corner of Campo di Fiori is perfect for gathering stocks for later on or for a quick lunch on the go. On yesterday's delights, we only shelled out €8, including drinks, and when you consider the terrible quality and value of the tourist-orientated eateries nearby, this is the wise man's choice.

papallos Very good! I am from Rome and I confirm that.. Now you should try the pizza al taglio in Via San Francesco a Ripa in Trastevere ;)

eamon The thought of it is making me hungry....

Review of Forno Campo dè Fiori from 5 May 2010

Simply one of the best. I fell in love with bakery pizza at this popular forno. I never forgot how good it was the first time my husband (a Roman) took me here. Some years later, I still agree it's a hot spot for pizza bianca or rossa and I always stop when i'm in the area!!

Review of Forno Campo dè Fiori from 14 April 2010

This is my favorite bakery in Rome. I lived and worked close to this place and often I grabbed my lunch, snack or dinner there. Although the strange hours (it can be open only for 3 hours per day), they make amazing breads and pastries that are worth to know when they will be open. The Forno is regularly packed of Italians usually getting a generous slice of pizza Bianca or Rossa, that is what they make best. Those are thin, crispy pizza dough (nope, no toppings in here) cooked with perfection. Bianca is the plain one and the recipe allows only some olive oil and salt while Rossa just get a plain tomato sauce over the top. As odd as it sounds both of them are wonderful and if you're in the city you must try them (they are traditional Roman pizza types). So, if Campo de' Fiori is on your list, I advice you to go to Forno, fight for your place in the counter, place your order , queue to pay and enjoy your slice of pizza (Bianca, Rossa or both) while walking around the market and taking pics of Giordano Bruno's statue.
