I’ve been going to Sharon at both the Chorlton and City Centre branches for well over 5 years. The atmosphere in both salons is great. Sharon is an expert stylist and knows exactly what will work and what won’t work and isn’t afraid to tell me when I am having silly ideas. Her cuts are always expertly precise and she never rushes the job, taking exactly as long as is needed to make my hair look fab. She is well worth every penny!
I have long straight hair. I spent years growing out layers, feathers etc. I have had it one length for a few years. I usually find cheaper hairdressers do a better job than the fancy ones but new job new pay i thought i would give it a go splash out. The venu very welcoming, offering you all kinds of refreshments. The hair wash was lovely. The important bit- the hair cut. I said i just want a trim, nothing fancy, i like my hair simple. I spesifically said i dont do feathers at the front. Chip chop- the whole thing took like 5 minutes im thinking this is rather quick. The hairdresser got to the front what did she do?????? PUT FEATHERS IN THE FRONT!!! i was thinking surely shes not- no i was in shock- toooooo late its donne!! How did it look? F**ing horrendus. A blunt horrid cut, i told the hairdresser i wasnt keen- what can they do? the damage is done. Got home inspected it- its NOT EVEN!!! Theres LONG BITS and SHORT bits. Honestly u may as wel put a LAWN MOWER to your head and pay £50 for it.

I am one of those girls who has never stuck to one hairdresser..ever! All the usual factors...didn't like my cut, staff weren't friendly, too expensive or spent hours sat in a chair having a colour done and just couldn't wait to get out of there!
I first had my hair done with Sharon in June 2008 and haven't gone anywhere else ever since. What can I say??...my cuts are always brilliant (and I do like to change my look so have had classic cuts as well as edgy ones) I enjoy being in the salon with the stylists, you can tell they love their work and do it well, that's so important when you're trusting them with your precious locks!!
Sharon always gives me a detailed consultation so I know what to expect and I know she undertands what I want to acheive so I get to sit back, relax, sip wine and chat!
Ethos prices are really affordable especially considering their status..I get my hair cut by THE Northwest hairdresser of the year!! I now live in Sydney, Australia and even THAT doesn't stop me coming back to Sharon...every time I'm home I'm booked in for a good make-over and because I now have to go much longer between appointments, Sharon gives me a cut that will work well with the extra re-growth.
I simply do not trust anyone else with my hair and would recommend Ethos to anyone fed up with mediocre salons charging too much, people looking for something fresh or someone who knows what they like but just want it done better!
I’ve been a loyal client to Ethos hairdressers for nearly seven years, despite living in France for five of those! I accidentally stumbled across the salon in the Northern Quarter when I lived on the next road over, and was instantly converted. The staff are all lovely. Always friendly, unpretentious, and good fun. There is a nice relaxed atmosphere in the salon, enhanced by the wine and beer happily dished out for free should you want it! I have a massive mane of hair, and dying/cutting/styling can take several hours so the wine goes down nicely on a lazy Friday afternoon. A couple of times my friends have popped in to meet me, and I’m still in the middle of a cut, and they’re invited to sit and have a beer too while they wait for me. How good is that?
I initially got sucked in by the prices – excellent student discount and even the salon director’s prices are a bargain. A number of staff have passed through the doors since I started coming here and I found them all understanding of my needs. Sharon (the director) is not out to make a fast buck, and listens to your requirements. For the four years I lived in France I couldn’t make it back for 8 week appointments, so Sharon made sure she cut a style that could last as it grew out, in case I could not get back to Manchester for a few months. When you have long, thick, wavy hair it’s nice not to feel a burden or to be rushed out of the door with a half finished job. It’s taken years to find such service, and I’ve yet to leave the salon without a bounce in my stride. Even my brother complimented me last time I left the salon, and that never happens! Product knowledge is excellent, and no one rams any of it down your throat. I couldn’t recommend this salon more.
I was introduced to Ethos 3 years ago and can honestly say that all the people I have introduced and myself have stuck to Sharon Peake and the Ethos team like glue!! They are human and truely passionate about Hair design. One of my friends lives in Atlanta USA, works for an airline and she bids for flights to Manchester to get her hair done by Ethos.
Ethos works equally hard for men and women. Ethos are award winning and their awards are proof of that.
I have been going to Sharon Peake for over 5 years now I wouldnt go anywhere else. I travel from Liverpool and find the salon is really friendly and relaxed, not at all stuffy like in some salons. I have highlights done by Sharon, I have been to other salons but no-one gets them as fine as Sharon. Sharon is a regular finalist in the North West Hairdresser of the year award and won it this year. Sharon also trains other hairdressers at their Academy in Oldham Street.
Great salon which manages to be both cool and inviting at the same time. Good music and atmosphere, with helpful and attentive staff. Adam has been cutting my hair since he started work there and he really knows his stuff. I like to change my hair regularly and have had lots of styles on his recommendation, all of which have really worked for me. I wouldn't let anyone else cut my hair!
I have been going to Sharon Peake at Ethos for over 4 years and am never disappointed. She cuts and colours beautifully. Sharon really listens to what you want and does your hair exactly right, I have been to both the salon on Oldham Street and also in Chorlton and can't complain about either. Looking forward to going to the new salon on Beech Road when it opens.
I have been having my hair done at Ethos since it opened 5 years ago by Sharon Peake (North West hairdresser of the year). My hair just gets better and is keeping me younger and with it! I recently tryed a new straightening treatment called La-Brasiliana which has radically changed the texture of my once frizzy hair! Its a must for all you out there with unmanageable hair. Ethos Chorlton branch is relocating to the quirky Beech Rd soon, can't wait!
