Home made Icecream...yeah!!!
True cornish with all the international know-how.
Worth a trip. Catch the ferry from Falmouth and just pop over for the day.
Expensive but a bloomin' good memory!
Spent a long weekend here at the end of May.
Wonderful location facing south over St Mawes Bay and St Anthony's lighthouse at the end of the St Mawes peninsula.
It's a very comfortable hotel with an excellent restaurant. Wonderfully quiet and relaxing. Definitely not somewhere to go for nightlife, but if you want a quiet cocktail as the sun sets, then it would be hard to do better than this.
Some easy walks from the hotel if you like a little gentle hiking to work up an appetite for dinner, and regular ferries across the harbour to Falmouth, the nearest metropolis.

This hotel is actually in St Mawes and not Truro.
We have stayed here 3 times - once in summer, and twice at New Year.
The New Year experience is truly awesome. The core of the hotel used to be fishermens’ cottages, and has retained a quaint feeling whilst being decorated and furbished to a great standard. In summary its a realtively small boutique hotel, where service and quality of food / wine is everything.
The food is truly stunning - it really is a fine dining experience. The staff throughout the hotel are not only helpful and polite, but very friendly and will bend over backwards to help you.
St Mawes itself is a very pretty, unspolit village on a headland with only one road to access it. It is great in summer, with its small harbour and a couple of small beaches, and in winter there are fabulous walks around the paths which make up part of the Cornwall coastal path, topped off by a pint of guiness / local cider or three in the pub down the road.
I would give this 6 stars if I could!

This comment is about the restaurant at lunchtimes, well worth visiting, great views as always worth specifying a table with a view, or on the Terrace if the weather’s good. Food good 2 courses about £20 without plonk.
it’s somewhere we try and take visitors to the area.

also known as the ‘Tranny’ by locals, this is ‘the’ hotel to visit if you want to splurge some cash, pick up a boaty boy and sup champers whilst watching the sun set over the sea. truely chic and appropriately expensive, this is the place that old charlie boy stays, jermey clarkson kicks back and the wise and wealthy recoup.

Really nice hotel with great views. A bit of a hike to the car park but they will deliver your car if you ask. The rooms are very nice with nice bathrooms and some with balcony areas. The breakfast was good and the evening meal and cocktails are a must! Try the rib ride and see the seals or hop on the boat for a bit of shopping in Falmouth.
