Visiting the Empire State Building is one of the ‘must do’ activities when visiting New York. The view from the top is incredible, and even though there are metal bars all around the viewing area (for safety) it’s still easy enough to take some good photos through them.

It can get incredibly busy and it’s not unheard of for queues to last for more than a couple of hours for the lifts, so it’s worth going at a quiet time of the day - preferably first thing in the morning. Security is tight, so be prepared to have your bags and coats searched and scanned.

What a view! It’s amazing to look down and see the little yellow cabs look like toys among the streets. Have fun in the lifts as your ears pop all the way up to the top.

Mooo… Mooo…..

Getting to the top of the Empire State Building is an absolute nightmare. It must have taken us 2 hours. Queuing here, waiting there. Don’t get me wrong, the view at the top is fantastic. But i could havew been sunbathing in central park and instead i was queuing! Grrrr.

I visited New York on a school trip in November (the time of my birthday) being from England I therefore got to experience my birthday twice (well so I believed I should due to the time difference!) I thought it was a fantastic place to visit. As you enter there a numerous displays in the entrance which are set off by the marble floors and walls. The prices to visit are reasonable - making it an ideal place for all walks of life to visit. The efficiency of getting a large number of people from the bottom to the top was remarkable considering the size of the place! I thought the staff were remarkably friendly and loved the English accent (not sure why). The shop is a little pricey but most tourist shops are you can get the same merchandise throughout New York at better prices. The views were amazing, we visited in the evening so the whole city was lit up in all its glory and being the day before bonfire night an ideal location to witness the fireworks!

loved this, remember to get there early in the morning as you’ll need at least a half day to do this but worth it.

the final elevator shoots you up to the top so fast it’s close to weightlessness. not as bad as the CN Tower for heights, nice to visit, great views of the sunset.

This is definately a must do when in NYC. We had New York Passes so we got to bypass the line and went to (what seemed to be) our own security area. From there we got our skyride tickets (wouldn’t recommend paying for, but if you have the pass it’s ok) and went into the elevator line. The view was amazing. Could see Central Park, the downtown buildings, and the SOL in the distance

It’s a beautiful building and when in New York you have to go there. We went in daylight and at nightime (wrap up warm!) and the difference with the lights is breathtaking. There’s an audio tour you can do where “Tony the Cab Driver” talks you round all the sides and points out buildings, telling you the history. This is worth it alone to give you a real sense of the city and what it took to build it, however do the tour in the day time otherwise you’ll have fun trying to find the buildings he’s talking about :-)
I did read somewhere that if a person proposes on Valentines Day within the Empire State Building and is accepted, they can return each Valentines Day for free. You’ll have to check this out, but what a romantic place- just think of the end of Sleepless in Seattle.
I can’t wait to go back to this majestical city and will certainly go back to ESB.

Take a trip up high and reach the dizzy breath taking sights of New York. Dazzling at night, energetic by day and tranquil when the sun go down the Empire State building is a place you will never forget. Seen in the movies in “King Kong” and “An affair to remember” it is a truely spectacular place. You to can create your own unique experience up here high in the sky. Travel up to the 86th floor in one of the many superfast elavators and watch New York go by from underneath your feet. You can see Lady Liberty from up here and view the south side of Manhattan and also see other New York great landscapes such as the Chrysler building and Central Park just from visiting this one great landmark. The Empire State Building stands as one of the highest buildings in New York now that the twin towers are sadly not with us anymore. As tall as it is, it is still graceful, beautifull and one of the most amazing places you can visit in the world. Take a trip up here visit the shop, take some photos and have a truely amazing experience from visiting the one and only Empire State Building.
