Lovely place to go for a walk but unless you go for a pretty long walk there can be quite a lot of people, so not as peaceful! Best times are first thing in the morning of you want quiet.

Review of Windsor Great Park from 8 March 2011

Windsor Great park is like a cranium on top of the world. It is the most peaceful place in all of England, where time can stand still and the rivers never run dry, a bit like heaven on Earth, you can even see the Ethiopian Prince Alemayau.

    The Royal School (Crown Aided)

The Great Park, Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 2HP
Headteacher: Mrs. Carolyn Jones. 9th March 2011

    Dear Mrs Carolyn Jones,
Please accept our Jamaican Golden Jubilee greetings and best wishes.
We would like your active assistance concerning the 3 Jubilees, agenda. The most important being the Constitution of Jamaica given by Royal Order in 1962, this Royal Constitution is in urgent need of positive application, that the people of Jamaica do not inculcate any ill will towards Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd, in Her Diamond Jubilee year.
We urgently need to agree with your Royal school at Windsor Great Park, the objective of the Royal Family their heir’s and successors concerning the positive application of the Jamaican Constitution, the comforting of Prince Alemayau, and the Speech of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd to Emperor Haile Selassie I, February 1-7, 1965. Being the basis of the 3 Jubilees that the dead shall not have died in Vain, can we also send for your urgent attention a copy of “The Vision of the Ethiopian Dengal Maryam”, what becomes of the Royal soul after it departs from the mortal body. Headteacher, There are some that say, she will reply, “I sit a Queen, I am no widow, I will see no sorrow”. On no account must you accept this reply as the blood of the saints cry out and the Jubilee Trumpet has been sounded, even in Windsor Great Park.
    I am Seymour Mclean

Probably the single best thing about living in windsor… you can be in beautiful meadows, exploring woodland, walking around lakes and all within 10 mins of the centre of town.

great for picnics, cycling, running or just whiling away an afternoon walking around.

Dont miss the copper horse, or the huge herd of deer.

Windsor great park is like the great church parks in Ethiopia, the resting place of the spirits, the park is not haunted, it is alive with spirits of the undead, The Ethiopian Prince Alemayau can be seen wandering the park, when will the jubilee trumpet be sounded?

After a trip around Windsor Castle we decided to make the most of the lovely weather and go and eat our picnic lunch in Windsor Great Park, on the long walk. The view from the long walk up to Windsor Castle is lovely. The park was immaculate and the kids enjoyed letting off some steam playing under the trees.

Windsor Great Park is a lovely area to walk the dog or cycle.
Maps are available from the village shop within the Park.

The only place you cannot take dogs is in the deer park.

You get a great view of Windsor Castle from the Long Walk.

Keep a look out for the Green Parrotts that have taken up residence in the park. You will probably hear them first.

It is also a great place for plane spotting as the park is on the Heathrow flight path and the planes fly over very low.

There are plenty of places to park around WGP but you will need to take your own picnic as the nearest restaurant is in Saville Gardens, which is on the edge of the park just off the A30 on the way to Staines.

Great for a half-day trek down the Long Walk from Windsor Castle and Town Centre, preferably with a good friend because the road is dead straight and nothing much happens except when you sight deer or even rarer royalty. Or take a bicycle along the many roads that criss-cross the park, and watch a Polo match or one of the many other summer events. Kas73 is wrong, you can’t drive through unless you live in the park, but you can ride up to a great little cafe/Post Office and even some swings if you take the kids. For a full day, add on a walk around the lake in the Valley Gardens, best for their rhododendrons and spring flowers.

Lovely big park. I wish i lived near it. I came to WGP on a trip to Cumberland Lodge, which is inside the park, on a university trip. The park is totally enormous, and full of deer and a load of animals and birds. It would be a great place to go for a run - endless different routes. Also, you can walk to Windsor castle - the view as you get closer and closer along the long approach is really amazing.

Windsor great park is really beautiful - especially in the summer. If you love walking and exploring or flying a kite then this is the place for you. There is nothing more exciting then that to do here, but thats the joy of it. Its SO peaceful! Windsor great park is very large and so you can always find a quiet spot. If it is a sunny place day then do take a picnic as this is the perfect place for one. I think you can also drive through nice and slowly though! :) There is some animal life in the park - either in the ponds or in the trees so make sure you keep your eye open. Also visit the ground keepers cottage as i think the garden is so well kept and really pretty to see.

No you can’t drive in the park unless you either live or work there (or you are a member of the Royal family) although you can cycle or ride your horse in certain areas.

Try a cream tea from the village shop and post office. A truely beautiful place to go!
