I was invited to a private function at Maya, so I can't comment on how the usual crowd at this club is like. I'm just going to write on the venue.
Maya is a nice, small, seemingly upmarket venue in the middle of Soho. It certainly looks more posh than the exterior would lead you to think, that's for sure. Serving staff and bar staff and the reallyf friendly restroom attendant were decent, while the cloakroom attendants... well, let's just say that they left a lot to be desired. And that's why the club gets just two stars from me.
When I walked out of the main room, drink in hand, to wait for some friends near the cloakroom, one of them called out to me, "hey baby, you cannot bring your drink outside."
I take offence to being called 'baby' by strangers at the best of times. At a place which was rented out for a corporate event, I found it inexcusable. And when I put my glass down on the cloakroom table while I adjusted my shoes, the cloakroom attendant quickly picked up the glass and shoved it back in my direction. It wasn't as if anyone else was waiting, so what gives, buddy?

StealthClub, 5 March 2010:
its a shame that soem girls have to et groped when they go out, its completely unacceptable, guys drinking too much, surrounding by girls not wearing much, on a dark warm room, I think can be a recipe for disaster, I'm not into drinking or the whole culture of clubbing, I guess I'm a bit reserved, but I dont see the pint going out dressed in nearly nothing, and getting drunk so that I dont know who I'm talking to, and waking up feeling awful.. I'd prefer a club that has private rooms, with nice little table to sit down and eat, with low usic, and light converstion, not shouting ans spitting all over the places, like a loon. If you can recommend anywhere like this would be great

Great Club.
This club has a great capacity and great atmosphere.
Last time I went in, a singer was performing on all songs, it was really amazing!

StealthClub, 7 April 2010:
It's the Number One Party Club in London for sure. Glad you enjoyed the night.
After it's votes and advertising of new club. I have to say I dont support this. yes somepeople say it's great for a night out with people who want to have fun/. But i think some people have different ideas as to what "fun" is. We were having a great night, dancing, drinking and being silly taking photos etc... then we had a group of middle aged men walk over, plonk themselves next to us and would not leave. One guy was touching my friends leg up after she shouted at him he didnt move. So we moved.... next another guy gropes my bottom ... I mean come on you can't have people acting like this. It ruins the whole experience. The music was ok then got a bit shite unlike most nightclubs its didnt get better as the evening wore on. We left at about 11pm and went to picadilly circus to the sports bar which was a million times better.

I have to say I wasn’t overly impressed with this club, considering it reckons it’s been voted best new club!
When I came here it was full of old business men trying to cop of with 18 year olds and played shite music.
The bar staff seemed quite friendly and there was a good selecton of drinks (£28,000 for a bottle of champage is a bit much, if you ask me, but there were some good cocktails on offer!)
I probably wouldn’t go again in a hurry, but it’s not really my scene anyway.

Voted best new club and alleged to be one of the best in the world, however to me it seems to be like an opulent micro Ibiza. Having done the rounds at some of London’s most exclusive nightspots Maya served only to disappoint me. It wasn’t all bad, the toilets were decorated well and the DJ was fantastic, however the somewhat tired, cramped, unnecessarily hot interior seemed to make the night drag on. Also the service was slow with the waitress apologising every 5 minutes existing our belvedere was coming yet after 20 minutes of still no arrival the service seems to border shambolic especially considering their menu boasting a £28,000 bottle of champagne. Not only that, our table was in possibly the worst location in a club with a terrible layout, although I do agree that it is suprisingly big downstairs, the utilisation of the unexpected space was terrible, although you could just argue my night was tainted by the fact the floor was covered in chewing gum which has just ruined a brand new pair of Simon Miller Jeans and is becoming a pain to get off my Dior shoes. My advice only come here if you’re on someone else’s table.

Drinks not bad and bar staff friendly, but in my opinion mediocre boring music, rude and obnoxious door and cloakroom staff, overpriced and just not worth it.
London, demand better, you deserve it.

Maya is a really essential part of the clubbing circuit in London, bigger than you’d expect, beautiful interior, very cool crowd, great music, and a fantastic vodka and champagne selection.
worth checking out! book a table and get a “giant martini” trust me, its an experience.

I attended a music showcase here this evening so can only really comment on the space rather than the music / clientele.
But what a space. Enter through a tiny door towards the top of Dean Street and walk through a really dark set of stairs into a cavernous space you wouldn’t expect to exist. It’s no dingy basement, instead it’s beautifully lit, filled with mirrors and comfy looking embedded sofas and plants.
Generally exuding a feeling of luxury and exotica, it’s one of those places I’d never choose to go to but now am a little curious about.

Maya is filled with all the beautiful, the rich and famous and the most exclusive Londoners. The layout of the club is really cool, with lightboxes and big mirrors, it looks great. The music is brilliant, with different remixes that both surprise you and always get you dancing. Overall, had a great night, even if I felt a little too pretentious, would definitely go again.
