This place is NAFF! I agree with other reviewers - there are much nicer deli's and bakeries in Blackheath village - why would you go here? I have had a couple of horrible experiences with this place. The staff ignore you, leave you standing around in the doorway and when you get your food it tastes like something that even the dog wouldn't want. I would recommend you save your money or go elsewhere!!

Where to begin food - mucked up my order over three times, the woman serving me kept rolling her eyes and when I asked in there were nuts in one of there cakes (I'm allergic) - she snapped 'you can see for yourself.' Dispicable service and the place had no atmopshere.

If you like rude service poor quality food (at extoritinate prices) and tacky interior then this is your kind of place. I have been to this deli twice and both times been unimpressed. You've been warned...

Deli? More like greasy spoon. I waited 10 minutes to be served, whilst being ignored by the so called waitress having a chat, whom did not acknowledging myself or any of the other three people waiting behind me. Then when I was finally served by another member of staff (from the kitchen with stained overalls) I was insulted and then received the most disgusting quiche I have ever had in my life. I will never be returning here ever again!

I live just up the road and have been here a few times…. Every time the experience was unimpressive. Two bagels took over over twenty minutes to come (we were taking away) and were served top side toasted, bottom side raw dough. Over priced and rude staff. With all the lovely cafes in Blackheath, there is really no reason to ever go to this place…

OK, this little deli has just stolen my heart. I never thought that shepherds pie could be sexy, but oh my goodness that's the best meal I've had in a while. There's a photo if you want to see the brilliance.

I don't often find myself in Blackheath. It's pricey, it's posh and a longish walk from home. Greenwich is much more convenient for me. But sometimes, I'm tired and jump in a cab home from Blackheath station (a habit I really should get out of). Tonight I did just that. But I was starving. And the Village Deli was open and perfect.

Back to that pie. Oh my goodness the pie. Wonderful wonderful mashed potato, which perfectly crisped under the grill (can you tell I haven't been eating carbs much recently?) Yummy meat and veggies - even a stray broadbean to make me feel especially wholesome. It's one of the best shepherds pies I've EVER eaten.

And it was only £3.25.

I might move in. Instead, because I had to spend over £6 to use my card (my only gripe and I've already forgiven them), i bought to scotch eggs for my lunch tomorrow. If I wasn't too full of pie, I'd have eaten them too.

The rest of the place? Seating area for eating in (the do cakes, tea, coffee etc) and I'm assuming they'd warm any of the goodies on display. Staff were friendly. And they're open until 9.

I'm in serious lust with Village Deli.
