Groot Constantia is the oldest wine estate in South Africa. It was established way back in 1684! Nowadays it is very well know in the Cape and is noted for its production of excellent red wines - particularly shiraz and merlot reds. Not only is the wine delicous, the grounds are beautiful. Excellent place for a walk on a sunday. Wine tasting is great fun and for 22 rand (about 2 quid) you can taste 5 different local wines and they also give you a free souvenir glass! Now if that isn’t a bargain, i don’t know what is….
