Visit this 1945 aircraft carrier. Taken out of service after Desert Storm in 1991, it has been used as a museum since 2004. You’ll find numerous aircraft on board, including the impressive Vigilante, made by North American. Weighing almost 15 tonnes empty, it was the only ship-born nuclear weapon vector. You can also see helicopters, but best of all are the Volunteers (former navy sailors) who will tell you their histories and give you information on the planes, the aircraft carrier, and their histories. Basically an almost living museum, the likes of which I wish I could see in France, rather than seeing our old planes rusting on roundabouts at entrances to airbases.
