This is truly one of those places that smells as amazing as it is. Walking down past Southwark Cathedral, the aromas hit you and taunt you inside (or rather outside, as my experience goes).
After a snap decision to sit down because it was nicely busy and the BBQ looked very appetising, we went for the Mezze for Two for £18, and 2 Coronas, although I also heard someone at the next table waxing lyrical about the Paella. The ice cold drinks were fetched within the minute, and the meal took less than 10 minutes. All freshly barbequed, the lamb, chicken and chorizo were all melt-in-the-mouth fantastic. It was plenty large enough for us, but obviously not too much so as we finished the plate - the sides were tortillas and some lovely soft basmati rice.
The waiter was friendly and welcoming, if a bit confused (constantly saying "Merci" in what blatantly is not a French restaurant, but I think I can forgive him that), even whilst he was kicking us out for staying way too long past closing time.
Very reasonably priced, very pleasant atmosphere & staff, and above all, fantastic food. I have been meaning to eat here for the few years I've been coming to Borough Market, and I'm so glad that it lived up to my expectations!
It's perfect for Borough Market and a good place to stop off for refreshment if you've come from London Bridge and you're going to the City or the South Bank. The espresso is quality and has a definite kick. The toasties are nice but a bit pricey, and they do grilled sausages and other hot food if you're hungry - better value for money than the toasties. I've never sat inside so I can't comment about that, but there's plenty of outside seating hard up against Southwark Cathedral and they put up cover when the weather demands it.

In a great location beside Southwark Cathedral but thats about as good as it gets...poor coffee supplied with plastic spoons'n paper cups if you're looking for some aqua, all served with a dose of nonchalance by the staff
