Piloute (04-05-2008)
Starting in the south of Kowloon and climbing towards the north, this road is quite long.
Right at the south end is a McDonalds which is open 24 hours (useful with the jet lag) and there are plenty of shops selling watches, clothes and photo equipment (and the touts that go with them).
Further north at the Mongkok metro station, exit E2, you’ll find the famous Ladies’ Market, open from midday to 23:30. In this market you’ll mainly find souvenirs, shoes and sports clothing, but its reputation as a shopping paradise is out of date. The prices are a bit lower than those you find in Europe, but not enough to make the trip worthwhile. In the same area you can find DVDs; for enthusiasts the videocameras and cameras are very interesting, but if you don’t want any nasty surprises, make sure you ask to see the Label, an international quality guarantee (a picture of a junk on a red background).
