Healthy, fresh and delicious. I opt for the curry and brown rice with a large bowl of salad. Marvellous!
At the time of posting this veggie/vegan cafe is up for sale, with the hope that the new owner continues with the same ethos.
UPDATE: CRUMBS LIVES!!!
Yes folks,Crumbs is now under new management and the delicious soups and meals have not changed (always a worry when someone new takes over – but so far so good).
The iconic wooden bowls of salad and vegan fare live on,and veggie gastronauts – who enjoy home-cooked grub – can rest easy.
Crumbs also now offers WIFI,newspapers to read and a soon-to-be-introduced sofa lounging area upstairs.

I defy anyone to finish the ‘pick and mix’ salad, which comes in a huge wooden bowl, and allows you to add extras such as hard boiled eggs, and peanuts. Many friend have mocked the idea on their first visit, thinking that because it’s salad it won’t leave them feeling full. Each and every one has admitted their mistake on the way out! I have been going to Crumbs since the early 90’s, when I first discovered it having not long moved to Cardiff to attend the University. I still go there frequently today. The only problem is that it’s such a small venue, so it can seem a bit cramped. It also fills up very quickly, so is best to try and avoid the hours of 12 – 2 if you can, although if you’re desperate then a takeaway is just as good. The specials board always looks really enticing, but I can never bring myself to order anything from it as I love the salad bowl too much!

This must be one of the longest established vegetarian eating places in Cardiff. I’ve been going there for more than 30 years and it still serves good fresh salads and home made soups. The menu remains the same week in week out, but the mix is so tasty and the prices so reasonable that this cafe never lacks customers. It is quite small so you need to go early to be sure of a seat at lunchtime. However, they also sell all their food as take-away options. (There are some seats in nearby The Hayes where you could sit and eat your take-away.) This cafe is in one of Cardiff’s Victorian shopping arcades so it makes a nice place to pause to rest your weary feet before returning to the shops!

Yum yum, lots of exciting veggie salad options here and really nice jacket potatoes. All crammed into cool wooden salad bowls.
I always found the service to be fast and friendly, I like taking my tray off up the winding stairs upstairs to find a seat. It’s usally quiet busy and has a nice atmosphere, lots of older ladies having a cup of tea and a chat.
Lovely find tucked away in the arcade. Well worth a visit.

The Morgan arcade can seem like a maze if you have never been there before, but if you are lucky enough to find this small café then your in for a healthy treat! Veggie and Vegan dishes fill the menu and it’s a lot more satisfying and feel good food than a fast food restaurant! Be green and stay healthy!

This wonderful cafe is now up for sale. I sincerely hope the owner finds a buyer otherwise this little gem will be gone forever.
This really is a gem of a place. The food is delicious. I can only hope that the new owners have a similar menu and standard.
