Jewry Wall Museum

I have visited Jewry Wall Museum as a child both with school and my parents but still enjoyed a recent visit here as an adult. There is lots to see, especially the Roman mosaics. I found the staff to be very helpful in both customer service skills and also answering questions about displays and artefacts. Admission to the museum is free which is ideal for families with children – especially during the long summer holidays!! Jewry Wall museum is a great attraction in Leicester especially as it is so near to the city centre. Special events are held during the school holidays which have a hands on approach.

this site used to be roman baths and now is a lovely muesum although i have never entirely looked around the place.
i have and do however visit them in the summer holidays to attend there play days arts and craft days so much for young children goes on here it is worth ringing them if you have middle aged children because there is always something going on to entertain them.

Great museum, very near city centre. Loads of hisotrical facts and usually deserted as people tend to go to the city centre rather than seeing historic sites. Such a shame.

A great museum set in the grounds of a Roman bath site with a massive Roman wall. The displays cover prehistory, Roman, Saxon and Medieval Leicester. There are some great objects - the mosaics and wall paintings are unmissable, some of the best in the country.

It is free to get in (so good in the school holidays!) and they hold regular special events. There is a free brochure you can pick up that lets you know when the events are so that’s quite handy.

They also hold an enquiry service so if you dig up any archaeology in your back garden you can take it in and get it identified!!

The staff are always polite and friendly and will go out of their way to answer any questions you have. It looks like it could do with a bit of a refurbishment, but I guess they need the council to give them some money - but the displays are really good despite this.

Toilets and museum are always clean and there is good disabled access (once you’ve gone all the way round the site and got in through the car park!)
