Gruesome meat in my ' gourmet' burger, funny old oil taste off the chips. Will definitely not be going back under any circumstances, have a new found respect for McDonald's & that can't be a good sign. Felt sorry for nice pleasant very young staff. They should find somewhere else to work that isn't so insulting to clients taste buds. Then again I get the distinct impression that all a lot of English people require is ' cheap' food. It was cheap , so perhaps some people will be happy with getting this awful, I'd saw, devoid of nutrition , muck.

Visited yesterday whilst visiting the 'Oaks'! Nipped into restaurant after seeing the lunch menu outside but were told lunch didnt start until 12 midday. As it was 11.50am and our 4 year old was hungry we decided to go in anyway. The only choice was breakfast!
There was no choice for children at all! We ordered 'bacon butties' for the three of us but were not impressed. The bacon had been over cooked in the microwave and was hard and not tasty at all. We ordered our son a toasted teacake which was tasty but he only ate quarter of it as he didnt like it (no choice to kids).
Paid the exorbitant bill at the end but did not leave a tip! Had to walk up to the bar in the end to pay as no waiter came near us even when we got up and put on our coats! Not impressed!
We definitely will not go back there and will not recommend it to anyone!

Always go here for Afternoon Tea For Two at lunchtime when we visit Cheshire Oaks. At our visit last week we were told it was no longer policy to serve this until 3pm-neither the menu or the A board outside bothered to mention this-we left and ate elsewhere as we didnt want a large meal. We probably won't return.

Went here last night for tea and used the 241 tastecard. met by really friendly staff and the main courses were gorgeous. I had the posh fish and chips and my partner had the steak. The deserts didnt match the mains and was a little dissopointed with the bowl of cream that was passes off as Eton Mess. All in all i was glad we had used the tastecard as it wasnt worth the full price of £48. Would go back again - but only on 241.

The sole reason why me and my boyfriend chose The Red House Brassiere to eat was because at looking quickly at the menu on the outside it deemed itself to be of a very high standard claiming that it served the ‘best food’ in the country. When looking at the menu properly once seated the price of the dishes seemed to be very overpriced for what they were however if we were going to get a high standard meal then the price did not bother us. My boyfriend ordered a Chicken and Bacon Club Sandwich which came well presented which did not live up to expectations, the chicken was cold and he nearly cracked his teeth on the small bones which were found in the bacon, he was immediately put off and left half of the plate. I ordered a Chicken Pesto Pasta with Oven Roasted Tomatoes similarly this too came out well presented however I was extremely disappointed as it was very watery with no taste to it at all which the clump of pesto messily plopped on top failed to revive the flavour. After a few mouthfuls I could not eat any more and my plate left the table looking like it hadn’t even been touched. Overhearing on the table next to us they voiced their opinions to the staff stating that they were not happy with their meals as they were ‘cold’ leaving them very unsatisfied. The staff although friendly and very prompt they did not ask us how are meals were and we came to the conclusion that this was because they understood to well what we and all the other customers thought of their well over exaggerated food. At first we felt very reluctant to pay for the piece of garbage they so thoroughly praised however we paid our bill and left with it a note explaining this reluctance. I and my boyfriend will never step in this place to eat again and I HIGHLY recommend that no one else does either.

Review of The Red House Brasserie from 30 October 2011

Me and a couple of cats happened upon this jiving joint one Saturday afternoon and snuck in like thieves in the temple on seeing its quietness compared to the other eating joints in Cheshire Oats. We were quickly shown to a quiet table away from the other patrons where we all decided to have a burger platter each. We only had to wait 50 short minutes, during which time the foxy waitress massaged our egos, suggestively purring that we were her ‘favourites’. When the cuisine arrived we broke bread as much as we had broken the bank on this, shall we say, criminally overpriced piece of garbage. Two burgers the size of my little sister’s baps, seven chips each and vinegar only by request.

The Good:
VERY friendly staff ;)
Good point of “pervy” “passer-by” observation
Decor was very nice, reminds me of the original Star Trek

The Bad:
The food
The drink
The cost
The ambience (a guy farted)

Overall, highly not recommended. 7 out of 14 stars

I didn't enjoy this place at all. I had fishcakes that were pretty much all mashed potato. In all seriousness, baby food has more flavour. This place is also really really overpriced.

A bit of a franchised poorer sister of the original in Chester. The food was palatable enough, and in fact was quite tasty if a little overpriced, however, the restaurant itself is a pretty soulless unit with zero ambiance or charm for an evening meal. Think 'contemporary works canteen' and you would be quite close to the mark!
The staff were 'unhurried' to say the least and had to be asked several times for any kind of service. I nearly always leave a tip but really felt completely unable to do so on this occasion!
If you fancy an upgrade from mcdonalds then give it a try.. Otherwise avoid!

I'm afraid you must have gone on a bad day then, we call every time we are at the center, the food is good the wine is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff have always been polite and attentive. Comparison with Mc D come off it mate!
I thoroughly recommend it, if the offer is still on go on a Wednesday the bill is cut in half, that also includes the wine!

What a fabulous find for lunch away from the crowds of the food hall. This is a very classy brasserie that is part of a new family of restaurants. The interior had lovely lighting and a very contemporary decor. The starter of home made houmus was delicious and the main course was also fantastic. It was fish cakes and there was lots of fish inside a lovely crispy exterior. I look forward to trying out the sister Red House in Chester soon.
