Great night! Booked for my sisters Birthday which is always a scary thing; you never want to get that wrong...  and I didn't. The whole night was brilliant start to finish and our waiter was amazing in fact all the staff were; it feels like you're at their party but in a good way.

The food exceeded my expectations. Usually when places do cabaret they don't really do food but it was great and i've been thinking about the sauce on my steak ever since.

If you've not been... GO!

The creators of Circus London Restaurant need to take a bow. They’ve invented one of the most exciting places to dine in the country and perhaps the world.Circus London Restaurant includes Burlesque dancers perform tongue-in-cheek routines on the main banquet table, literally jumping through hoops to keep you entertained. Tom Dixon’s design of space age orbs and bauble, a communal table-cum-dancefloor and a sublime soundsystem all ensure that the night’s gonna be a good night.

The kitchen at Circus London Restaurant has relaunched, opting to take their inspiration from the Orient over the American South – look out for delicious delicacies like lobster and foie gras futo maki with truffle soy, soft shell crab tempura with green chilli aioli and orange ponzu or Josper grilled red pepper lamb chops with chilli and honey. Exciting night – check.

Disappointing overall - bill was around £140 for two of us and we didn't even have wine, just a couple of bottles of beer each. Main feeling as I walked out was regret at all the other amazing restaurants in London we could have gone to for the same money.

Decor looks sumptuous on the website gallery but it is actually quite plastic and tacky inside. Tried 4/5 of the dim sum dishes, which were ok but nothing too special. New York beef dish was nice but really not worth £30 (literally was just 6/7 mouthfuls of beef laid out on hot stones). Barrimundi was overcooked and again a really mean portion for £20; worse still, what I thought was a pastry casing turned out to be paper! No accompanying vegetables or salad to speak of (apparently you had to order these seperately) which I find astounding given the price of the mains.

Best thing food-wise was the desserts, chocolate fondant and chocolate sphere were delicious though I suspect not even made in the restaurant. Wouldn't have minded all this had the entertainment been good, but I would say it was underwhelming and more like 'opportunity knocks' than a circus. I was expecting fire-eating, jugglers etc etc - in our two hour slot we saw two contortionists, a rather uninspiring transvestite and a couple of tap dancers. Hopefully it's better on a weekend (we went on a Thursday night) however I will not be going back to find out I'm afraid.

    CircusCoventGarden, 9 July 2012:

Hello Christina and thanks for your review regarding Circus. We really appreciate you taking the time to pass on your feedback. We discuss all feedback within the management team and use it to continually improve our offering.

We usually estimate a cost of approx £50 per head for food, which we believe to be reasonable for a venue with no charge for entertainment. (This is based on a small dish such as a dim sum dish, a main such as the New York Strip Loin priced at £27, a side and dessert). We try to be very clear with the wording for each dish on our menu with regards to exactly what the dish contains (because of increased specific dietary requirements of guests). The sides are marked separately on our menu and are priced competitively with other similar restaurants.

We have noted your comment regarding the Barramundi parcel and will make a change to the wording on our menu.

The desserts are all made fresh in-house by our pastry chef Julien. All of our dishes are prepped and made in house including our dim-sum, birthday cakes and entire range of desserts.

I am surprised to hear negative feedback regarding our entertainment. We try to offer a broad range of styles of performance including gymnastic, acrobatic, dance, aerial hoops/ straps and fire eating ballerinas. We hope to appeal to most guests by providing such a range. (We have never based any of our offering around an actual ‘Circus’ as this would indeed be very limiting!

Thanks again for your comments, and we are sorry that Circus wasn’t for you!

    Best wishes

Enter through the subtly unmarked black doors into an Alice in wonderland venue.

Hoops hang from the ceiling and the table’s have stairs for the acrobatic.

I cannot comment on the food at this venue, but the cocktails are superb, if not on the pricey side.

This is a wonderful venue, highly detailed, opulent and stylish.

The bathrooms need a visit, although I could see how you may get confused as to which to use and how to wash your hands as the signs that indicate how to do this are very subtle.

I would recommend this venue alone for the decor and atmosphere, being a big cocktail drinker, this is perfect for a laid back slurp, although beware that they add service charges to all transactions.

I have no idea what the stage (and by stage I mean table) shows and the food are like at this restaurant. I arrived just before midnight when the acrobatics were over. But ... I can say that my late night stopover here was an absolute hoot.

Fitting squarely into the "so bad it's good" category of things to do, I was "impressed" with the DJ's selections of cheesy 80s music, the Dallas-esque garb of many of the ladies on hand and most especially the fact that you're allowed to dance on the tables. Well, one specifically designed table with steps on either side of its length, that is.

Cocktails are de rigueur here (around ten quid a pop) but there's a decent selection of beers (I had Staropramen) at reasonable prices.

I'd go back just for the laughs. I'm mildly curious about the dinnertime preformances here as well.

I too, came here for a comp brunch menu tasting. I think when the restaurant originally opened in covent garden it was all about the evening, but now the owners are testing the waters with brunch and lunch to take advantage of their central location.
Designed by Tom Dixon, it gives a new twist to cabaret - as diners enjoy Pan-American cuisine, performers nightly twist and flip their way down the communal high table whilst the rest of the restaurant looks on. Decorated with reflective walls and huge mirror balls, it’s the perfect place for a pre-theatre cocktail and snack or a fun group meal. The restaurant has three distinct sections which can be hired separately or exclusively as a whole. For late nights, DJ’s get the after-dinner mood going until 2am from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
On this particular Sunday morning, I chose an orange juice ( not freshly squeezed I don't believe ) and the Caesar Salad with cornbread crutons. Most brunch items were priced from between £8 - £10ish, so not too extortionate.
There were spiced crab cakes, pancakes with syrup, a full breakfast or even a burger.
My Salad was OK, huge slices of breast chicken ( skin on so I peeled it off ) but part of the chicken was bit fatty and inedible. Corn bread was a different touch and the crispy bacon and leaves with chunky shaved parmesan were fine.
My friend had toasted bagels with smoked salmon and poached eggs and hollandaise. Even I was disappointed when she cut into her eggs and they were hard-boiled!
My other friend's beef burger seemed to be the triumph, juicy patty piled high with slaw, gherkins, cheese etc and nice-lookking rustic fries on the side.
I probably would go back here in the evening to test it out, but hopefully the food is better then.
I'll be honest, I think the main draw here is the kitch entertainment rather than the food.
Don't get lost on your way to the toilet - shiny black doors with minimal signage abound, leaving you feeling lost in the tardis if you take a wrong turn.

Best thing about the place is the option to dine en famille.

Reminds of the London clubs where single diners can meet other members.

Had brunch. Poached eggs great. Nice cornbread too.

Went for a taster lunch and was impressed with the selection, as well as the friendly service. Especially liked the seafood tempura. Will definitely go back - in the evening though.

I came here for a complimentary taster lunch. It comprised a beef and mango salad, seafood tempura and a cheese and sweetcorn pastry. Everything was fresh, tasty and well presented.
The restaurant is easy to miss due to the lack of signage. I walked past it a couple of times. It's right in between something called saunabar (dread to think what this is!) and a residential looking door with 27 on it. Although the space itself is nice, they have a conservatory style roof meaning that if it's a sunny day you roast. I would recommened asking for a table not in this section.
I was here at lunch so there was no performance but I believe things are very different in the evenings!
