A little gem of a find, 'Bread & Butter' is great in every way. It ticks all the boxes necessary to make each visit an enjoyable one; fast efficient service and always with a smile, extremely reasonable prices, delicious food, a wide selection of drinks...served in vintage cups complete with saucers, and vintage tea pots too. All these things add to the experience, which thus far, has always been a positive one.
Its just a shame it isnt a little bigger, as sometimes it can get really crowded and as its so small, it can get a little too much. This is the only remotely negative comment I have about this place.
Wins hands down when up against 'Cup' for example, which I'd describe as lacklustre at the best of times!
Nice cafe in Northern Quarter run by creatives with no sense of direction.
You'll fit in well here if you sleep in a skip behind Sainsburys the night before your visit, then sit in a corner listening to Talvin Singh on an original 1983 tape-Walkman whilst reading a copy of Jackie containing a pull out feature of Sheena Easton just before Prince dusted her cobwebs.
10% discount if you turn up with a hen stuffed in a budgie cage.
Recommended.

This is a really cute little cafe on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter. As far as I can see there’s no real sign outside, but it’s pink so you should be able to spot it.
I’ve always had problems with cafes in the northern quarter being all style and no substance, plus typically the service can be on the ropey side what with all that bohemian atmosphere… (although there are some exceptions - Cafe Aromat is brilliant and Oklahoma is good too). Thankfully, this place can be added to that short list as one of the good’uns. Service was extremely friendly and quick. The staff all appeared to have their own tasks to do and did them efficiently. It was nobody’s job to stand around doing nothing while nothing got done. Everyone, staff and customers alike, had smiles on their faces and seemed to be having fun. The selection of paninis and wraps was excellent and the cakes were very pretty. I would possibly have liked a more enticing cake selection, but then admittedly I am a fussy cake snob of the highest proportions.
Overall, it was really good value for money, and I really hope this place does well.

I love this little cafe!
The cakes are delicious -particularly the Jaffa-cake cake and their amazingly light chocolate cupcakes.
They don’t stint on the fillings for their panini’s, and all the food I’ve ordered here has been perfectly hot, fresh and tasty. Can get quite busy on a Saturday, but service is always quick.

This fine little cafe sits along the rather marvelous Tib St just a few doors down from Rags to Bitches. It serves delicious home cooked food and a splendid variety of cakes that fair brings a twinkle to the eye. The decor is a wondrous mix of opulence and deco tiling, bringing an altogether favorable Englishness to the whole proceedings. Mr.Rags heartily recommends this establishment.
