To be fair, the service is nice and the ambiance is rather pleasant BUT this is not why we go to hairsalons! All I need is a good looking hair and this is NOT what I got!

I like how open they are with their pricing - what it says is what you pay - no guessing what level stylist your appointment is with and no listing cuts as priced from a certain amount.
Firstly I was running late - and they didn't even mention it (I apologised of course). The wash was excellent and head massage was lovely. Their shampoo smells fantastic too.
I was taken downstairs and offered a drink and magazines and my stylist (Mishi) took care to make sure she understood and did what I wanted. Throughout she was friendly and chatty but not too much!
I had long and very thick hair and got about 5/6 inches off to make a long bob. The cut was great - I've had lots of compliments and I can literally wash it and do nothing with it and it still looks good.
All in all great experience and they have a new loyal customer!

Unlike most of my friends, I am not someone who has a fixed hairdresser – I typically flit from salon to salon merely opting for a trim, usually leaving feeling satisfied with the results, but never overwhelmed.
I recently had the urge to go for a drastic restyle but
wanted to find a salon and hairdresser who could advise me as to style,
suitability, manageability etc. I didn’t
feel that any of the previous salons I’d been to were up to the task so set
about trying to find someone who was.
Having spent an evening reading reviews, I decided to give Malishi a try.
My experience started with the best hair wash I’ve ever had largely due to the wonderful 10 minute head massage. Next, the stylist, Michiko, had a look at my hair and asked what I wanted. I told her I wanted a restyle but wasn’t entirely sure what would suit. My hair was quite long and layered and I was thinking about a choppy bob. Michiko advised that a bob would look ok but a sharp angled bob would really suit my face shape – this is just the advice I was after!! After the cut, Michiko then showed me how best to blow-dry and style my hair, giving me tips that mean I don’t have to spend hours in front of a mirror each morning. At that point she looked at the finished cut and said I should have a side fringe. Again, this is just the sort of stylist I wanted; someone who isn’t afraid to give their opinion and make suggestions. I thought the cut was great, but the fringe really added that final touch.
I went with her expertise and I was not disappointed. I absolutely love my new hair and everyone has commented on how great it looks. It has been 3 weeks now and I literally cannot wait to book another appointment for a trim – I have finally found a salon that I love and I cannot recommend it highly enough! I just wish I'd have found them a few years ago!

i visited malishi twice and after reading such positive reviews, i was terribly dissapointed. the staff appear to have their own agenda and don’t take into consideration your views, i’m note sure if this was a language barrier or just ignorance. the only good thing i can say about the salon is the receptionist was delightful. the guy that washed my hair after a colour left my scalp in a state of rawness it was sore for some time after.
i did notice that lots of the good reviews came from men simply have a short back and sides. if you’re looking for a good cut/colour, don’t bother!

Love Love Love this Salon.
They are Japanese so sometimes there is not much banter (which I think is actually quite nice rather than taking rubbish about holidays). They are great in understanding what you want and will say if they think it’s a bad idea and I can not rate these guys highly enough, the price is great for the hour appointment and wonderful head massages you get when they’re washing your hair.

Very unprofessional.
The receptionist barely speaks english, hard to understand anything she is saying.
In the end i managed to book a late slot but said if someone cancels earlier to call me. They called me to say there is an even later slot open, which i didnt ask. Then it turns out they didnt even book the first slot i booked. SO i kindly said thanks and ill take my hair business elsewhere.
And yes, the fact she missbooked isnt to do with ehr poor engish, but just being unprofessional.
0 stars, and they even charge 30 gbp!

I have been using malishi for over 3 years now and what a find!
Your opening comment says it all! It's a Japanese Hair Dresser so English isn't the first Language! It seems to me you are an impatient person and a little racist too. It's true you have to speak slowly, but I have never had a problem booking an appointment and have always been delighted with how well i'm treated. £30 what a bargain! It's cheap by London prices perhaps you are not used to a quality cut!

I love and miss this hair salon immensely. Very reasonaly priced and extremely skillfull hairdressers. I always walked away form the salon feeling a million dollars.
I only have one criticism - they have not moved to Birmingham with me.

I have been to many many hairdressers in London and I always come back to Malishi. I honestly think it is the best in South London. Takeshi is brilliant for colour and cuts, and you get an amazing head massage too. It's not super glam, but prices are really reasonable and it's a good service. The stylists are all Japanese and really sweet - I like the fact that that there isn't too much chit chat. It's really relaxing.

Following all of the great reviews, I decided to give Malishi hairdressers a try.
Apart from the hair wash and head massage my experience was exceptionally poor.
My hair was washed before a stylist even looked at it. Fine if you have straight hair but a big no no if you have curly/wavy hair.
Once in the stylist chair I was frightened. She was not confident and in no way a senior stylist. She barely trimmed the bottom of my hair (again not having seen it dry she couldn't tell the condition of it) and then proceeded to hack at the middle to take volume out.
Then the blow dry. Just terrible. It was as though she'd never blow dried hair before. I had to ask to have it done again as I was going out and needed my hair done properly.
If you don't want your hair ruined and a half effort blow dry my suggestion would be you're better off with the most junior stylist in a great salon than at Malishi.

i think they have new stylists in but it is usually really good, promise!
I dont usually enjoy going to the hairdressers...I find it somewhat of a chore having to endure another expensive evening of not getting what I want. Malishi has changed this - I'm actually looking forward to going back! Nothing different I can add to the other reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, head massage, pleasant and friendly staff and well priced bill at the end! My hairdresser was Miki and she was so sweet and did such a good job I just cant help admiring her work in every mirror or reflective surface around!

Great little hair dressers in London Bridge/ Bermondsey. Run by two Japanese hairdressers, all the staff are lovely... its a really relaxing atmosphere and the head massage is AMAZING.
The colour is much better than what I have experienced in the past and they are great at recommending other styles etc. I would highly recommend this place to anyone recently moved nearby. although it is expensive, its well priced for the area.

I’m very picky with my hairdressers as they don’t always know how to cut short hair and I used to always go back to my hairdresser back home (in France so would only go twice a year!). Malishi was recommended to me by a couple of colleagues who have short hair and I wasn’t dissapointed. Great cut and fantastic head massage - to be honest, I would even just go for the massage alone if I could.

After reading numerous reviews i decided to go ahead and try this salon, i have lived in the area a while and still not found a salon i feel comfortable at, well now i have found it! i went in for a complete re-syle form very long to very short, and i was not disappointed i basically gave her free reign to do whatever, and i have had nothing but compliments since, not just on the style but the actual cut too. the hair washing was worth it alone, the massage almost sent me to sleep and i was given a neck massage too. Attentive is an understatment! Its is a small salon which i liked and had i not been looking i could have walked past 10 times and not noticed!
I cannot recommend this salonn highly enough, all the staff are lovely and BTW the colour i had was stunning to, she suggested low lights in with my highlights and it really works. So as i say, i recommend this little gem, and look forward to returning, finally i have a hairdressers! PS the price for all this was a mere £85, about £50 less then i usually pay, perfecto!

I never used to go to the same hairdresser time and time again, I just wanted something good quality and reasonably priced and never found it - hence the swapping. That is until a friend of mine gave me the number for Malishi.
I always commented on her hair as it looked really well cut. Anyway, I tried it and have never gone anywhere else since. The price is great - very reasonable, and they do a great hair cut. They manage to get the balance between listening to what you want, and suggesting new things. I have never been dissapointed. I’ve also had my hair coloured here too and was pleased with the results. Yes they are very friendly, but don’t bug you for chat when you are sitting there - I just bury my head in a magazine and take advantage of the cup of tea they always bring me.
6 stars if possible!!

This cute hairdressers on snowfields street (a gem of a street nestled behind London Bridge station) is staffed by Vidal Sassoon trained hairdressers and colourists. The service is efficient and friendly plus the cuts are fantastic. You don’t get your normal hairdresser banter here as they are Japanese – I actually think this is a selling point ! The stylists will give you a cut that suits you and your hair type and if they think what you want wont work they are not afraid to tell you. This is probably one of the best hairdressers in London and the prices are very reasonable.
