I love Sushi, I’ve had good sushi and not so good sushi from the four corners of the world, but never have I experienced such a bad experience. A disgrace and insult to the Japanese culture and the good name of Sushi!
The food is terrible, unauthentic, pricey and the staff are clueless and rude.
The rice was over cooked to the point of resembling porridge. Plastered around the unfresh, smelly and clearly toxic fish. I had to fight 12 rounds for the salmon nigiri to go down my throat. Only for it to come straight out the other end as soon as I got home!
What added to the insult was when I told the staff that the rice was not quite right, “a little over cooked, mushy” I said. I was made to feel quite sheepish when the response was “it’s the way we cook rice, now stop complaining and eat up”
How I regret the biggest fight of my culinary life. Every bite, every chew, every swallow was a moment of torture.
I don’t usually write reviews but I just felt I had to spread the word to all the sushi lovers out there and warn them of this so called sushi restaurant! Please avoid at all cost, because it certainly cost me!
Poppy Hana is a 5 minute walk away from me, they have satisfying main dishes on their menu and deliver to my home when I am feeling too lazy to walk to them. They are reasonably priced, and I am a loyal customer.

I've been here on quite a number of occasions and it doesn't seem to fail me. I have to admit, i haven't tried much of the menu, only the bento box and the chicken katsu curry (sorry!), but it always consistently good.
It's very easy to get to aswell, just on the right when you walk outside bermondsey tube station. Only reason I gave it a 4 star was that it was abit pricey.
Poppy Hana offer a fantastic menu of Japan fusion cuisine, A wide selection of Sushi, Tempura, Katsu curries and Noodle dishes served within a comtemporary modern interior at affordable prices.
The fish is fresh daily and this is reflected in the high quality of the dishes as are the sauces that are all made by hand on site.
Located next to Bermondsey Jubilee line Tube station, the restaurant is fully licenced with a good selection of wines and beer. A take away service is also available
