Generous portions, but all food was reheated. Not what you expect of tapas. This is the worst tapas I’ve ever eaten. I will not go back.

Can’t work out why this place draws me back, but it does ! It’s cramped, chaotic and quite often you have to queue to get a table. I think maybe the general 'spanish-ness’ of it all just makes it a fun experience.Oh and most importantly the food is quite simply stunning.

Cafe Espana is tucked away at the entrance of Old Compton Street, a very small place and probably you have walked past without noticing it. The quality of food is above most other Spanish restaurants in London and the service is always friendly and efficient. Lots of spanish speaking clientele, which gives it an authentic feel.
The restaurant itself is fairly small and can get rather busy but they always manage to squeeze you in somehow. Having always an awesome time there, visiting this little gem now for almost 3 years and was never disappointed!

A slice of Spain situated in the midst of Old Compton street. This place really packs them in and if you suffer from claustrophobia then I wouldn’t recommend it. If you can stomach the rather cramped atmosphere you are rewarded with cheap and varied tapas in massive portions. The standard of food here is fine – its not the best tapas you can get but it is fresh and you get a lot for your money. House wine is fairly palatable and service is by the most charming Spanish waiters - one of whom is so mature and authentic I worry may not be there every time I go but he always is… There is a strict no booking policy although waiting times don’t go over half an hour. This is a good place to go with a big group – and then you can take turns to queue as well whilst the rest of you have a drink in one of the many bars nearby.
