Occasionally I like to take a break from my hectic schedule and just watch the world pass by. I can think of no better place to do this then the Company Gardens in the heart of Cape Town.
Surrounded by a canopy of oak trees and abounding with wildlife it seems odd that in the middle of such a cosmopolitan city, one can find a place of such natural beauty but indeed it encompasses what Cape Town is about and what makes it one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
On a lazy Sunday afternoon one can watch as numerous bridal couples take advantage of the blissful surroundings to add a touch of class to their extra special day. For those tourists wanting to sample a taste of the sites of Cape Town, the garden is also home to the Parliament buildings, the South African Museum and Planetarium and the regal St. George’s Cathedral. It is also easily accesible within walking distance of the city’s hub which is Long Street.
A must see for anyone visiting Cape Town.

Flanked by Parliament and also various of Cape Town’s Museums, the Company Gardens is still a place for office workers and weary shoppers alike to relax amount on a bench under the trees. At one end, there are peanuts for sale, as you might want to commune with the colonies of squirrels and pigeons who live here. There is a separate rose garden, a tea room and an aviary. When you reach the top end, you
could choose to visit any one of several museums.
