I recently used ELC Solicitors after a recommendation from a friend. They must have improved as I had a direct line to my lawyer and teh transaction went through smoothly. They also kept me updated by SMS and E-mail which was very useful. The lawyer stayed behind to meet me at 8.00 p.m. and would definitely recommend them to my friends.

I used ELC Solicitors to purchase my flat and found them to be very slow and inconsistent with service levels. My biggest bug bear was that they didn’t ever call you back and often when you contacted them they would put you on hold for an extended period of time and then advise you that the person who you wanted to speak to was out of the office. I am aware this is common practice for solicitors however I think their service could be improved ten fold if they just answered or returned your calls and let you know that there were no updates rather than keep you hanging on. I found my dealings with them incredibly frustrating at times especially as they seemed to decimate different information to me, the estate agent and the mortgage broker, if they had a clearer and more transparent approach it would benefit all parties significantly. Aside from this on a personal level one of the staff was especially helpful post sale and worked hard to ensure I received compensation from the vendor personally going to put the cheque into my account when it was all completed. This illustrates that they have the ability to be excellent however their inconsistency and varied response would mean I would not recommend using them.
