I am so shocked and astounded at the above comments.  I have been a client of Michaels for many years and have found him to be a kind, thoughtful and polite person.  He has been in the reflexology and chiropedy business for years treating many famous people e.g Lords, film stars, sports personalities etc.   he is a real professional.  Many of his pupils from his school have moved on and been very successful from his tuition and speak very highly of him.  I would and do recommend Michael to everyone.

I was amazed when I read the reviews below - I have been attending this clinic for many years. I have never found Michael Keet rude. The therapist I have encountered have been excellent and I cannot understand why these people are so anti the clinic. Maybe they were as I witnessed myself someone on a vower scheme who seem not to realise they cannot turn up for an appointment 15 or 30 minutes late and demand to be seen. Yes everyone understand there can be transport problems but they one I witnessed was quite out of order including threatening the therapist concerned.

Terrible experience trying to even book here with a KGB deals voucher. The website is difficult and intimidating, the terms and conditions are extreme and intimidating (and completely excessive, as well as being additional to the KGB deals terms), and having not acknowledged one email nor answered the phone on previous occasions, Michael was incredibly rude to my wife on the phone, reducing her to tears. Incidentally, he also claimed that therapists are not paid for 'no shows' when, thanks to the unusual requirement in their booking system to provide *all* voucher details in advance of receiving anything, one thing is guaranteed - Keet Clinic *are* getting paid, however bad the customer service or disappointing the treatment.

All the above reviews seem totally consistent with this bad experience and I hope that KGB realise the damage being done to their brand through association with this 'organisation' (or rather two organisations - the Keet Clinic and the Reflexology College, which advertises reflexology courses in a day - or a more certified one for £1,000!)

I’m sorry that you have not had a good experience. The strict terms and conditions are in place to ensure that we are able to provide this offer. Doing the voucher deal is NOT a money making venture but as a way for people to experience Reflexology who normally cannot afford to.

I have been a Reflexologist for over 30 years and written books about the subject and I’m very passionate about the subject and how I have seen Reflexology help people over the years and i started this deal to allow as many people to experience the benefits of Reflexology

You have also misquoted/misheard me, we DO pay our therapists for “no shows”, and yes we are getting paid
The deal works out at £9 per treatment, of which we only receive a percentage, this percentage is used to cover costs. So if people miss appointments etc the cost of re-booking would have be shouldered by my company, as we have to pay the therapists for missed appointment as we pay them for their time. We have a “no show/late cancellation” rate of approx 20% that is why we have to be strict in the enforcement of the terms and conditions. We cannot make exceptions as this would be unfair to people who adhere to the terms and conditions. This is also why we get details in advance, to ensure we can have the most efficient management of resources, to enable us to offer treatments at £9 each. We have done thousands of treatments successfully through the voucher schemes.
Yes we do offer 1 day courses in reflexology, these are taster/CPD courses and yes our diploma course is £1000, one of the cheaper courses most other companies price are in excess of this .some charge in excess of £2000 (i don’t understand why you mentioned this in this post??)

I understand why you want to defend your business but I think you should step back and look at the consistent response here – you would be doing yourself a favour to adopt a very different tone and attitude with your customers. It’s not the concern of customers how much you get paid, you have chosen to offer a deal (and I hope for business, not charitable reasons), and you do have the choice to be more customer-friendly in honouring it.

I wish Qype would review their star system, personally I’d rather leave no stars for the Keet Clinic but in order to write a review I need to rate at least one. Judging by the comments here I’m probably not the only one.

Unfortunately I am unable to comment of the reflexology treatment at Keets Clinic as the first appointment didn't register correctly on the website and I was unable to attend the second after going into premature labour 10 weeks early. Therefore, I can only comment on the inflexibility of their terms and conditions.  I completely understand that terms and conditions must be applied to avoid abuse of the booking system, but I was astounded and disppointed after contacting the clinic, explaining the extenuating circumstances of which I obviously had no control, that the they still completely refused to allow me to rebook my appointment, stating that they must adhere to the voucher guidelines.  Coming from a customer focused business background, I find it incomprehensible that a cancellation like this should not be looked at on an individual basis in order to maintain a good reputation of customer satisfaction, and thereby risking yet another negative review of which I see there are many.

This is the first time I have ever felt i have had to write a bad review about a company!

Review of Keet Clinic from 14 November 2012
On Friday I attended the Keet clinic in WC2 for the first of my two 90 minute reflexology sessions purchased through an online offer service.  I won't be going back for the second session.  The reflexology  was advertised as 90 minute session, in a modern, stylish clinic, at an 82% discount on the 'regular' price of £100.

The session I attended was clearly a training session carried out by students.  In fact I overheard on of the 'therapists' acknowledged as much to her client during the session. In other words, we (there were six of us being treated simultaneously in the room) were being used as guinea pigs for reflexology students who were possibly even paying the Keet Clinic for the privilege of being trained.

The 'modern and stylish' clinic was nothing of the sort; neither modern nor stylish.  Nor very clean, come to that.  The waiting room was untidy with boxes of stuff on the floor and rows of school chairs set out in rows much reminiscent of a 1970s dole office.  The 'treatment room' was an ugly, scruffy upstairs room with nowhere to put coats, bags etc. except over the back of the door or under our seats.  We 'clients' were expected to sit on a sort of woven plastic fabric reclining garden chair.  The room had a cheap nasty carpet  and there were a few posters of foot anatomy on the wall.  It was quite obviously a classroom and not a 'modern and stylish' classroom at that.

I sitruggle to believe that the treatment I had was in any way comparable to the treatment offered at £50 on the Keet Clinic's website.  I defy the Keet Clinic (and judging by the tone of their response to other brave souls who have left less than positive comments here in the past, I imagine that there will be a response on this site!) to claim that what treatment I received was worth £50 or had an actual £50 value.

To summarise, I received just over an hour of unremarkable reflexology at the hands of a (perfectly pleasant) student in a scruffy, smelly room in which five other people were also tipped up in chairs with their feet being treated.  While we all sat there, a man in a tracksuit walked around whispering instructions to the trainees.  It couldn't have been less relaxing and there is no way on earth that anyone would ever be asked to pay £50 for the treatment I have just described.

It wasn't the cosseting, relaxing experience I had anticipated!  Did I mention that our medical information which we had filled out as required in the form ahead of the treatment was thus discussed in stage whispers in the presence of strangers in next-door chairs?

I concur with the reviewer LondonLady01:

I also made the mistake of booking a reflexology massage using a voucher for me and my wife. My wife was shoved into a broom cupboard unlike the relaxing environment advertised. I was in a room with about 12 other people receiving a foot "massage" in what was definitely a garden lounger chair covered with tatty blankets and pillows. The massage was given by a guy who was, to be frank, a bit clueless - my wife had a similar problem with another of their "Trainees". The room was not at all relaxing, with the window open allowing traffic noise to disturb the peace and due to the number of other people "squeezed" in. I urge anyone to not waste their hard earned money with these amateurs.

Avoid this place but not because of the therapists who are very good (John and Jabulani ) but because of the terrible customer service. I was involved in a very severe high speed collision with the police which led to my car and their squad van being written off and both myself and the officer in hospital. This was 2 1/2 days before my appointment with them. From hospital I called the clinic over 2 days but I had to leave a message as both days as the answer machine was on. Nobody got back to me so I called a third time where I was subjected to the most vile response from a lady! Hmm maybe the wrong word!,called Sylvia Keet. She insisted I'd lost my appointment because I hadn't emailed and told me i was lying about having left messages!!!!I tried many times to explain that I had no computer in hospital, hence my calls. I was astonished by her hostility and asked for a number of the reflexology  school to discus this matter and how she treated me. I let a message, albeit a distressed one! But I heard nothing back again. I then sent an email stating I'd left a distressed message, explaining I'd been involved in the accident hence the 2 voice messages, that I'd been called a lier and that I had proof of my calls from my mobile bill! I got an email back from Michael Keet saying that it was indeed me that was rude......and that without 24 hours notice I'd lost my treatment. I replied that I'd been trying to contact them for 52 1/2 hours and I haven't had a reply which I doubt now that I will. I work in the beauty business and know many magazine editors who USED to review this clinic positively, past tense. People in the business talk that way about this place, that it used to be good in it's heyday.PR suicide was mentioned by one editor who happened to be within earshot of Sylvias rant. A work colleague of mine was going to send his daughter to the school but won't be now. Avoiding this place is the only way they may rethink their customer service policy........

I have been successfully running the Keet Clinic since 1986 and trained thousands of Reflexologists in my 27 year career.
In 2012 we decided to run a voucher scheme for £9 treatments instead of £50
In the past 12 months we have treated over 2000 people and rarely had a complaint. The above complaint from booking using the voucher scheme was Emma Kotch (who works in make-up) was unfounded.
She cancelled her appointment less than 24 hours, but had also sent us more than 10 emails previously cancelling and re-scheduling her appointments, only to (when told she was out of the cancellation time) abused 2 of my staff screaming down the phone.
Out of sheer spite and maliciousness she decided to write spurious nonsense about my staff and clinic on this website because we did not give her a replacement appointment.
She bought the deal on a voucher which came with terms and conditions, these included appointments must be cancelled within 48 hours, and all bookings and cancellations must be done online. This allows us to offer the treatments at a discount rate of £9. Our therapists are paid for bookings, i.e. if a client does not show the business still pays the therapist.
We state clearly our Terms and Conditions on the voucher, website and confirmation emails and have a dedicated website with a video explaining all the terms and conditions before prospective clients book their appointments.
Unfortunately we cannot make any exceptions on terms and conditions, for voucher purchasers, as making exceptions to individuals is unfair to others who abide by the terms and conditions.

  • emmakotch, 6 November 2012:

I’m only commenting on Michael Keets comments because I believe that my reviews should be an honest review of my experience and many of his comments AREN’T.
1- I wasn’t able to select a 2 nd appointment online because of an issue with their website ( see other reviews with the same experience) which involved 5 emails from me,between 8th September and 11 th October, all pleasant by the way, despite one occasion when I didn’t get a reply and I had to send another ,but still pleasant asking how I could overcome this issue with their website .FACT.
2  - I DIDNT cancel or move any previous booking/s. I didn’t have any to move!!!! FACT.
3 I was in hospital and left two voicemails (1st 52 1/2 hours BEFORE my appointment time and the second 28 hours BEFORE my appointment time) as I had NO INTERNET ACCESS in hospital, I couldn’t email. FACT.
4 – As other reviewers have experienced,I received aggression from the second the receptionist picked up the phone, of which I have 2 witnesses,iPhones are not discreet and the WHOLE conversation was overheard and NOT just my responses. They heard her repeatedly shouting at me that I was LYING about having left messages despite me saying I had phone bill PROOF that I had indeed left 2 messages. FACT
5 – I left a shocked and distressed message immediately after being abused by the receptionist to the person from the school that I was told to contact, which I have stated in my review but shocked!,,  NOT ABUSIVE…… FACT
6 – As a person I’m not malicious or spiteful. FACT.
I am honest which is why I named the 2 therapists who were great and if they remembered me or Michael Keet  had spoken to them, I can promise that they would back up that I couldn’t be less malicious or spiteful.
Whether I had purchased a deal or not ,I don’t feel I should have been treated this way by the receptionist  but more importantly subsequently….I have received nasty emails from Michael Keet which has been disappointing . Strangely I was on my way to a Rolfing appt.( Fab body treatment) at the actual TIME of my accident and the therapist was more concerned about how I was!! We rescheduled and I WASN’T CHARGED!  FACT.
I will turn this negative experience into a positive one by sharing my favourite practitioners, I have many holistic treatments and have done so for 20 odd years and with the best in the business,so I won’t be responding, revisiting or recommending the Keet Clinic .

Don't go here for a reflexology massage using a voucher. The advertisement for the place seemed to advertise a professional massage in a relaxing environment. In fact, I was in a room with about 10 other people receiving a foot "massage" in what likens a garden lounger chair. The massage was given by people who are taking a reflexology course and therefore are not very good at it yet (at least mine was very weak). The room was not very relaxing due to the number of other people "squeezed" in. Moreover, the voucher advertised a 1.5h massage, but mine did not even last 1 full hour. I would not recommend this.

I tried to book an appointment at Keet Clinc, but failed miserably, they only have an online booking system which is absolutely fine, except no one at the clinic would direct me to this, but sent me a string of emails basically telling me that I was being difficult (their language was ruder than that) - saying they try to please but some people are harder to please than others, the website only has a heading saying 'to book an appointment please call xxxxxxx and the phone number and the woman on the phone just shouted, use the website and put the phone down.  I had expected kinder treatment than this for a new customer.  I had an email from Charlie, co-incidence that Charlie is also reviewing - Michael needs to go to charm school.  Shame I can't do 0 stars.

The reflexology treatment I had was really  good, but they lack customer skills, big time.  The therapist was really professional, he had great skills, and believe me I had had a lot of reflexology treatments in London as well as in China.

After my first session with him, I booked another appointment. The therapist wrote it in his book, but did not give me any appointment card. When I went at the Keet Clinic on the day of my  second treatment, I could not remember the exact time. Was it 1 pm or 130pm? I went there a bit early, 1230, thinking i will check the time at the clinic and then I wil have time to do a bit of shopping in Coven Garden before the treatment. I asked the manager, Michael (not a nice chap) if he knew the time of my appointment and he told me that he was not sure but he thought it was at 1pm. He was polite. When I came back at 1pm, I was made to feel very unwelcome. I was asked to provide my appointment card, and I said that I was not given any. Then I was told that they could not do anything for me, and that I should go. I have already paid for the treatment, I was not asked if i wanted to reschedule. I insisted, saying that I had a treatment with the therapist the previous week and that he had booked the appointment and wrote it in his book, that it was today, either at 1pm or 130pm. I was quite shocked at the direction in which the situation was going, as the previous week , everything went smoothly, and I had a nice chat with the therapist. When the manager realised that I was not going to let it go ( I have paid for it), he went (very reluctantly) to check. He came back, and told me that, (big surprise) the therapist was with another client (during my appointment time) and that I should come back at 230. He did not apologise for the fact that my scheduled time has been given to someone else, and did not ask when I could reschedule. He wanted me out of his premises. The important thing here is that I was paying with wow voucher, it was very good value for me, but poor valur for the clinic. I think that the therapist had booked another private client, and considering the price that I had paid, did not feel like giving me another treatment, even thought I have already paid for it. I was very disappointed, and when I left I was nearly crying. The gist of this long story is: because I was paying with vow voucher, they gave me one treatment but did not want to give me the second treatment I was entitled to, they gave my appointment time to a customer paying full fee, did not apologise for that, and they did not want to reschedule. Rude, patronising and dishonest.

From the clinic website: The Keet Clinic celebrity clients have included famous faces in the field of Film, Music, Theatre and Sport (including the England National Football Squad).
Michael has also featured in Vogue, GQ & Sunday Times Supplement. He was a Regular Guest on Breakfast TV with Lorraine Kelly & presented on Sky TV

I just had a reflexology treatment at the Keet Clinic. I can recommend my therapist Andre Rocha. He made me feel very comfortable and gave my feet a thorough treatment. When the session was over, Andre gave me some useful dietary recommendations too.
