I don’t understand, the International was full so you had to stay at the International instead?

Have stayed here a couple of times before. Excellent location and clean hostel. The staff are not the soundest/nicest I have met before.
But I would recommend this as a cheap, nice well located hostel in Liverpool.
I stayed here once on a visit before moving to the city; my first choice of hostel, the International Inn, was full, so I had no choice but to stay here instead.
The booking process was ok but I found it rather intimidating and invasive to have to provide photo ID in order to be able to stay; no other hostel in any country I have experienced has ever asked me for this before but it is standard practise there.
The rooms are very basic and although the bed was very comfy and warm enough, it was very creaky, and for someone who doesn’t sleep much, it was hard not to fidget in case I woke people up in my room.
The kitchen area was nice though; people were able to make tea and toast in there for no extra charge as well as store and prepare their own food.
The place adjoins onto a cafe which I advise people against using; the hot chocolate was the most foul liquid I have ever imbibed and the sandwiches didn’t fare any better. Instead, try somewhere on Hardman Street or walk into town, or even cross the road and walk along Pilgrim Street to The Pilgrim for a decent breakfast at a great price.
The internet is also too expensive to access there. Service is ok though and the place is clean.

knibbd, 29 January 2009:
A fantastic central location just round the corner from the Fl and Loaf. A welcomming and hassle free hostle. the bed was comfy, no towels or shampoo but excelent 'rain head’ shower. Check-in is 3pm, check out 11am. There is free tea and coffee in the kitchen, and supposedly free toast, but the bread was abit mashed and the toasters only worked if you consistantly hold down the button. Popular with foreign travellers and stag/hen partys, can be noisy. The cafe is cheap with excellent food and service. I had a huge vege breakfast for £3.95. Recommended.
