I discovered this gem while driving through the Essex countryside last summer. It is a tiny restaurant but is clearly popular with the locals as it was very busy when I visited. The staff were incredibly polite and friendly, I sat outside on a table with my dogs who were fussed over, which offered extra warmth to the dining experience.
The majority of the food on the menu is homemade, and this is incredibly clear when sampled. The chips were fluffy and crisp, a welcomed change from the typical fast food outlet. The dishes offered are simple- pasta, soups, and burgers but the quality is superb.
In a market that is dominated by branded chains, this establishment is testament to the fact that in order to receive that special and personal dining experience, good quality independent restaurants should not be overlooked.
