These people will disappoint you, by double and treble booking (for their own benefit) then tell you the date has gone - after you paid the deposit!! Don't consider this place if you want your wedding to go as planned. It's the last thing you want to be told they cannot offer you the date. They know you are vulnerable as it's your wedding! They play psychological  tricks for maximum profit !!!!!

Review of The City Pavilion from 27 November 2012

I had my wedding at the City Pavilion, extremely disappointed as you do not get much for the amount you pay for! I opted for the Millennium Suite, which looks stunning in the photos but in reality the venue itself is very filthy and needs a good clean, carpets are stained, main entrance isn't at all pleasing. The lighting could not be any brighter? and had problems on the day. As i entered the bridal room it was full of unwanted furniture shabby bathroom and dresser! I stood up for the duration before my entrance as the furnishings were filthy and I didn’t want to sit in my £1300 wedding outfit!

BEWARE OF GETTING YOUR £1500 INSURANCE DEPOSIT BACK! I still haven't received my deposit after a month of the wedding (contract states cheque is sent after 7 days of event) having contacting City Pavilion Events department staff members stated on two occasions they sent a cheque, they will ring back that day, they left messages to my phone...all a BIG LIE! I wanted to collect the cheque myself, staff stated they are too busy with an event and cannot write a simple cheque? having being assured by another member of staff I can come in any day before 7pm to collect cheque. Extremely frustrating and staff really aren't helpful to add to this there is no accounts department so please don't press 4 as you will be directed to answer phone, a member of staff stated 'it's just a guy that comes in when he wants' in those exact words! This was a real joke and worry.

Horrible experience, the last thing you want to do is chase up a £1500 deposit after your wedding, being such a large complex I didn’t expect this at all, I have booked halls in past and received the deposit back within 7 days. Extremely bad customer service and untrustworthy, if you are considering to go with city pavilion as your wedding venue PLEASE RECONSIDER!

    Dear Sabira,

It is with regret that I read your comments about your experience here at The City Pavilion, and would like to assure you that this is not, in any case, the standards and level of customer service we are offering our guests, this situation is simply unacceptable, and I will investigate this matter personally to make sure you get your cheque back promptly and rightly so.

I will also discuss the matter with the relevant management team to find out why it took so long to send your cheque back and action accordingly.

Finally I would like to apologise on behalf of The City Pavilion to have caused you stress and discomfort and I trust this matter will be resolved straight away.

    Best Regards,

    The Management Team

I appreciate the response however I do not see an outcome? Wedding day should be spectacular and it certainly wasn’t with issues of getting deposit back also.

I believe compensation should be in hand in means of a sum of reimbursement/discount for future bookings, it is important as a service provider that apologies are made with gestures. This is not a win win situation for me at all as I am still disappointed with the way things turned out.

I look forward to your response.

    Regards,
    Sabira

Being a regular bowler at the City Pavilion I visited the New Italian Restaurant Volti Noti for the second time last night and was pleasantly surprised. I noticed in their live Kitchen they had a new brigade of chefs and the quality of food had improved 10 folds. While my previous visit was a bit disappointing, this time round the service had improved a lot. I got the drinks i ordered promptly and my food came within time. I was there with my significant other and we ordered two bruschettas for starters, seafood risotto & Mexican hot pizza for main course and for desserts we indulged in NY baked Cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. All food was cooked perfectly served on time and looked amazing specially the desserts.

Overall we had a great candle lit experience both walked out of there stuffed and very satisfied. Will defiantly return. My recommendation from the menu is the pesto Bruschetta. it will certainly excite your taste buds!!!

Volti Noti – WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE 1 STAR!
Service – atrocious
Food – RAW chicken in risotto
Staff – do not speak or understand english
Attitude – customer is never right – the chicken was cooked according to the chef – it was PINK
Management – Rude, unhelpful, threatened us with the ‘bouncer’ if we did not pay bill.
can’t comment on other restuarants in building but looks as if we chose the wrong one.
Reported to environmental health.

Thank you for your comments, our sincere apologies for the bad experience you had with us.
We’ve listened to your comments as we certainly had an issue with our brand new restaurant Volti Noti during the first few weeks of operation. We have since changed the full kitchen team and seriously improved the overall management to create a great place to eat out with excellent food. If you would like to have another try, please do let us know, we will be more than happy to accommodate you in the nearest future so you can judge by yourself our improvements.

Volti Noti – Very, very poor. Don’t bother
4 of us “dined”, Husband, me, Son and Grandson (11) ordered, bottle of Pinot Grigio blush, orange juice and coke – they arrived fairly quickly, but all wine glasses on table dirty, 1 with finger and lip marks – not nice, waiter identified one which was just passable, wine was nice, but ice bucket it was in was dirty and cracked. Don’t expect any thing on table (bread stcks etc) on table – cutlery, cheap paper napkin and glasses is all you get and not very clean at that!.
Son and Grandson elected to share a deep pan margueritta pizza, I ordered a Chicken caesar, husband ordered seafood and cherry tomato ravioli with a side of tomato and onion garlic bread. Pizza arrived first, bland and doughy, (son said could’ve done better himself with tomato puree and cheese on a bit of toast!), 5 mins later hubby’s ravioli arrived – sauce ok – ravioli stodgy! Son asked for a bottle of beer – the waitress could not understand and brought him the menu – there is only a choice of 3 beers! – he went to the bar and got it himself! My caesar salad arrived after a further 10 min wait! – it wasn’t worth the wait! No dressing, no parmesan, tastless, cold chicken, warm bits of torn bread as croutons and definately not romano lettuce – tasteless iceberg – innedible and we sent it back – hubby had finished his by then anyway! Chef came over and apologised, apparently forgot to put dressing and cheese on! This is a CAESAR SALAD!!!!! – not difficult! I refused his offer to try again!, especially as he intended to use the same nasty salad leaves!. We did not pay for the salad. Bill was £31 (wine £13 and drinks etc) we didn’t leave a tip and left hungry. Fortunately there is also a diner in the bowling alley downstairs and we got cheesy chips with bacon (£1.55 for a big portion) which was actually quite nice, but we were starving by then!. definately do not bother!

City Pavilion is an excellent entertainment venue in Collier Row, with Ten-Pin Bowling, restaurants & a late night bar all under one roof along with function rooms for parties etc.

Panna's is an Indian Restaurant within the venue & by far one of the best Indian Restaurants I've eaten in. From the moment you enter the atmosphere is so relaxing with a beautiful interior decor. The service is excellent with fast & friendly staff. A must for anyone who enjoys a good Curry.

Overall you can have a great night out by going for a meal, followed by a few games of bowling then dance the night away in the bar/club afterwards.

A lovely dining experience, the staff were courteous and attentive and could not do enough for me. The chef's reputation is not exaggerated, the food was out of this world. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful bowling alley. Although its not particularly relevant, i think they building is really nice with a big staircase. There is plenty of parking, many arcade games and a nice restaurant upstairs. Its a great day out for a family and there is something for everyone to enjoy.

This venue has changed name and ownership at least 3 times since i have known it! But have to say this one has got to be the best. Although the outside still needs to be done up i think, and looks slightly run down from the outside signs, the actual venue is great. A wide range of different things to do, with a great athmosphere all through the day, have to admit i didnt like the old management, wasnt very impresse dby their changes from roller bowl, but now i think this is a good friendlier place.

Caters for all, from bowling to drinking and eating - defo a good place to enjoy a day/night out - and even a function room to hire for your parties!

This ten pin bowling venue has changed names (and presumably ownership) a number of times; hence it may not be familiar to locals. Everything is offered here that one would expect from a bowling alley, including a fast food facility and a bar for grown ups.
There is a function room for hire, and this has been utilised in the past for comedy events and psychic fairs.
Not the most interesting or imaginative bowling alley but it certainly serves its purpose and is quite adequate for the young and old alike.
