CROSS RIVER FERRY
The Cross River ferries, operated by local firm Doyle Shipping, have been a feature of Cork Harbour for a good few years now. Some people say it is expensive enough - €7.00 for car return – but it is very convenient, saving you the long road journey from Cobh (Rushbrooke) to Passage (Glenbrook) or vice versa.
At the Rushbrooke (Cobh) terminal this morning, I was impressed by the speedy turnaround and the ease of driving on and off. The “journey” takes just five minutes and the service (capacity 28 cars) operates throughout the year, 7.00am to 10.00pm each day.
There may be the odd disruption to service, e.g. because of fog, but if you are a regular you can sign up to the text service to get SMS notice of interruptions.
