I’ve eaten at Johansson’s a number of times during the day and decided to try it in the evening – what a mistake! The café vibe was still in evidence, markedly so. The only other people in the restaurant were both on their laptops, watching YouTube etc and also talking on their mobiles (incidentally they weren’t eating and were nursing a cup of coffee). The waiting staff obviously considered this acceptable behavior because they did absolutely nothing about it. The food was average, the service amateur and I urge anyone thinking about going there not to. Also after the meal I was informed that the card machine wasn’t working, so I had to walk to a cash point while my dinner guest waited in the restaurant, just in case I did a runner! The owner was away so this might account for the poor dining experience but regardless I won’t be going back, day or night.

Great place!! Have been going there since it became Johanssons (over two years now). Fantastic service and really relaxed environment. The day time offering is just getting better and new evening service is great! The house roasted ham is excellent and the cured salmon even better. The wine we had was such a good value and sitting in the garden made it taste even better! keep it going!!

We went to Johannsons for brunch on a Saturday morning and it was fabulous. Lovely friendly staff, great relaxed atmosphere in a light and airy room, with seating indoors and out, with charming tables and chairs and art on the walls. then we got down to the serious business of brunch!! it was divine, scrambled eggs and bacon and they were deliciously cooked and well priced and we could (if we wanted to) help ourselves to toast which I loved as I am kinda fussy about my toast! The coffee was to die for and it was a lovely treat and certainly a refreshing change to the over-priced breakfasts I have had in East Dulwich which is down the road! Lovely - I found the staff to be friendly and it was very busy but they did a good job and so I would recommend this place!

In response to the first review about bad service - I think I know who you mean, and I haven't seen her there for a while. Seymour's/ johanson's is one of my favourite places to get coffee/breakfast/ free wifi/ meet friends/ read the paper/ catch up on work/ listen to whatever they've chosen on spotify that day etc. It's just a great place, and I wouldn't want one bad waitress to spoil their reputation. Give it another go!

Having moved to south east london from south west 15 years ago, before the refreshing seacow east dulwich, before the un touchable Franklins, before the warm cosy Jacks Lordship Lane- There were 3 standout places, Blue Mountain North Cross rd, Free Range Lordship Lane (sadly now cafe noodle) and Seymour Bros Camberwell.
The latter had a very definite place in my heart- its rustic feel, easy service and the essence of the art school permeating throughout. And best of all the rolls, oh the rolls, unique to Seymour Bros, certainly within the eateries i frequent.
I write this with heavy heart but seeing as its the 3rd time its happened i think its become form and not a one off.
The young mediterranean woman, thats how her colleague described her, wherever she hails from, her attitude stinks.
I was barked at today, for the 3rd time in 3 visits. why? i didnt hear what she said. She never says please, she never says thank you and if you ask for something they dont have, woe betide you.
I persevered for the sake of the rolls- sadly they’re just not that good.
Adios Seymor Bros

This cafe in the day (which is alright) becomes the most amazing thai restaurant in the evening, and is definately on my top five list of places to visit in the area. The food was the best thai food I’ve eaten out of Thailand and was served fresh out the kitchen by the cook herself. A very intimate, candle-lit place with simple, unique furniture. The service was very good and the prices are middle-of-the-range, but definately not overpriced. If you like thai food you’ll find some of your favourites on this menu.

Very good and cheap Thai meals in the evening. The cafe/restaurant is lovely and fun, the food fresh and tasty.
Best of all it is BYOB with a small corkage fee (£2 I think). They are not licensed so make sure you pickup a nice bottle of wine on the way.

I am very sorry about your poor experience at my restaurant three weeks ago! I have investigated this with the staff working on the night and I would like to clarify a few issues. We had on the night a couple who used their lap tops on the table. They had asked for permission to do so and we agreed. They where not nusring a cup of coffee, but had a bottlle of wine earlier in the evening. I have however decided that we will not have people working with lap tops during evening service from now on, unless they are happy to sit in the back room. You where however offered by the staff to come back and pay at any day that would suit you, they did not ask for your dinner guest to be held at ransom, if you where to do a runner! I am however sad that you seem to have decided that you can not even come back at day time (which is something I assume you enjoyed in the past) on the back of your experience? Please feel free to drop in at any time to discuss your experience over a cup of coffe or a glass of wine, and hopefully we can rectify this and see you again! Best regards Peter
