I don’t rate the tally ho very highly. Like all wetherspoons the food is cheap and ok for what you pay for it but the actual pub itself is pretty dire.
Inside is dark and dingy and not the most pleasant place to be. The staff are friendly enough and service tends to be quite quick but cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The tables seem to always be dirty. Even when they collect the glasses they don’t always wipe down the table.
Perhaps the only redeeming feature is that their beer garden is nice enough and has plenty of heaters.
Not somewhere that I would recommend.

Unfortunately, it is a Wetherspoons. Minus one star for no character. On the plus side, drinks are not that expensive.
Inside is a dull place to be, definitely. Most of the times I care to remember, I have been in the “Beer Garden”, though its not so much a garden since the smoking ban kicked in. Though having said that, it wasn’t much of one beforehand either with two lanes of traffic to your left and two lanes of traffic to your right.
All I can really say about Tally Ho is that it has been here for years, and I very much doubt it will go away either. And it shouldn’t. The trouble is it’s location. There are no major bars or clubs, or anything with nightlife near-by, otherwise it’d be an ideal place to stock-up on cheap drinks before you headed to that favourite club of yours. But unfortunately, there is no-where.
In that respect, it gets a sympathy star. Which equals 3 stars.

My time at the Tally Ho was ok….
It wasn’t the best pub in the world, but it certainly wasn’t the worst. I was in good company though.
It seemed like it was full of dodgy old men inside, so my mate and I grabbed our drinks and headed to the beer garden outside. Surrounded by the main streets of North Finchley, the beer garden isn’t the most intimate of places, but it did offer a welcome relief to the stares of the locals.
The tequila shots also helped I think…

This is one of the best examples of why Finchley is definitely not the most happening place to live. A dreary place with nothing original to offer. Much like Finchley as a whole really. (I can speak ill of it - i’ve lived there my whole life)
