what a really nice place lovely food and a great pint of the black stuff
this is a lovely old pub which i visited 4 years ago,a friend of mine was down from glasgow,we had a good night, large rooms, friendly staff, outside seating,as well as heaters[to cater for the smokers],3 months ago i wanted to go to sunday lunch,so looked at the reviews of the food served here, very favourable,we were a party of 6 and paid something like 8 pounds each, the pub wasnt that busy.we waited 45 minutes..and when the food arrived it wasnt enough to fill you up,we then asked for some gravy,we had a little dribble on the beef, the vegetables you couldnt even put your fork through as they were soo undercooked,we left having all eaten the meat and roast potatoes, all the veg was left,i recommend this pub for drinking only, the food was awful.

Nice pub, lovely building across from the rear corner entrance to Heaton Park. Ok for both a drink, and eating. Lovely out the front on a sunny summer's day :)
Not quite my local, but probably the best choice within a five minute drive. A pleasant, characterful pub with a really nice outside area. Service is a bit slow at busy times, but remained friendly and efficient all evening. Plenty of comfy seats inside, wooden chairs outside. The house red was surprisingly good - in many pubs, I've found the house wines to be virtually undrinkable, but definitely not here. Reasonable prices, too. We spent almost 5 hours here recently and I spent just under £20, which left me a lot of change out of the £30 I took with me :) Didn't try the food, but I am reliably informed that it's very good. Will definitely be coming back here soon, even though it's a good 15-20 minutes walk home - it's probably a good job that it's a little out of my way, otherwise I would probably spend far too much time/money in here :D
The original home of Joseph Holt. This Grade II listed pub sits in extensive grounds and a couple of years ago was completely refurbished. There are a variety of rooms which are large with high ceilings. They serve a good selection of drinks and also have a separate restaurant. It is very popular in the summer due to the large outside patio area. Thoroughly recommend.
This pub is a great Joseph Holt backed pub. It was the original home of the founder of the Holt’s brewery and was converted in I think the 1960s. It was recently refurbished again to create a modern eating place and bar.
There are rooms to stay in upstairs as well as a function room. On the ground floor there is a bar selling drinks and bar food and a separate restaurant that has a good selection of reasonably priced food.
The menu has something for everyone and two good deals if more than one course is ordered. The puddings are very good and the food is well presented.
The staff are very pleasant and professional and this is well worth a visit.
another great joey holts near heaton park, think it was joesph holts original houses. brilliant beer garden outside in the summer and next door to heaton park if you’re going for a full day out. has changed over the years and specialising mainly in food now, which most of the time is spot on and very cheap
This is a Joseph Holt’s brewery, in a quiet location. Really large pub, with a function room upstairs. It has a traditional british pub feel, with the food to match. Great place to lounge about with a big Sunday lunch, or unwind after work on Fridays (as we often do at our school!)
There’s a large carpark which is convenient, and tables you can sit at inside, or large sofas if you’re feeling a bit stuffed!
Prices are reasonable, and the puddings are well recommended, sticky toffee in particular.
