2 reviews of The Facade in English
The facade is an amazing shop!
Specialising in antique lighting, this shop is a must-go for anyone renevating a house, and want to get some period features. This shop stocks lighting and relatied parafinalia from all periods, in many styles.
The owners are very nice helpful people too, and they can also do repairs of such lighting, though they tend to be very busy and therefore there can be a waiting list!
The shop is just around the corner from a small group of other antique shops that all have their own “specialisation” areas, and they are all amazing too!
The Facade is a beautiful antique shop specialising in lights and chandeliers. It is on Lisson Grove round the corner from the main antiques area in Church Street. Once you enter the shop you have to stand in the middle for a while blinking in delight at the treasures sparkling in every corner…
Threaded glass bead lightshades dangle from the ceiling in droplets to create a twinkling Aladdin’s cave. Restored antique lamps and mirrors reflect the threadbare opulence of a bygone era. I love it because I am always lost in awe in front of art deco and fin-de-siecle and art-nouveau objects.
Perfect place to buy special-occasion presents as well as a first point of call if moving house or in search of new decor. Has other decadent furniture, including beautiful glass-topped tables and unusual bedsteads, as well as lighting. Definitely worth a visit even if only to dream and gasp or to learn about the antiques from the friendly owner. Each piece of furniture or lamp is original and uniquely beautiful. Prices vary according to age and value (all the items are in top condition, lovingly restored to working order), but are reasonable, and you can buy a one off item or a collection to furnish your home, or a restaurant or business.
