The crew are really nice and professional, the boat, which was specially made in Mauritius, is very well adapted for big game fishing, with a comfortable fly deck. Full-day and half-day professional fishing guides and big game fishing charters for individuals and groups depart from the port of St Gilles (1/2 day €100). The equipment is good quality, although weighted a little heavily (cable stringers among other things) but it’s normal in the profession (lose the crankbaits and other lures at a not negligible cost). Going for the morning is best since the sea is better and the fish are more active, a whole day would be too much (unless you’re completely mad about this sport). If you want to keep the fish you catch then tell the captain (all the fish belong to the boat, not the catcher) who will sell them to you for around €6 per kilo. There is no ciguatera in Reunion so you can even eat the barracuda (very good skewered on a barbecue). After the fishing you can eat at the port restaurant just nearby, where the captain will sell some of the fish that was caught, which is therefore very fresh.
