I wanted to write a really great review about this place. After it, it’s a gorgeous little basement bar that feels really sexy and decadent. It feels like no one knows it’s here, which isn’t true as it’s always packed, and for the most part, it’s a fabulous bar.
They have bands on, but really really late and that can get a bit annoying. We hadn’t paid to get in so that wasn’t so bad, but if we’d have paid the seven quid to get in after nine I think we’d have been feeling a bit impatient.
The band were great. Really fun. They had an electric double bass which was fab and the guy would randomly play along to songs the dj was playing. All very entertaining.
But I’m still only giving it three stars. They’ve jumped onto the burlesque bandwagon and despite there not being a stage, they had a stripper with the music. For no reason. It was tacky. The band were happy with the view, but only becuase she may as well have been sat on top of them. What was the point?
There was also a really creepy guy in there who actually groped me, more than once. I yelled at him and my much more charming friend managed to stop me from lamping him. The security guard threw him out, but when they realised that he clearly knew the staff they let him back in twenty minutes later. When I asked why, they lied to me and said he was in the band. They clearly didn’t care that he was such a creep.
So I’d love to recommend this place, but the men here are sleazy and the women don’t seem to mind. Despite the bar being quite cool, that’s not exactly the kind of place I want to drink.
