Have been to a number of GBK's firstly in London then they started to get a few up here (have just opened at the Trafford Centre).

Awesome burgers, cooked to your liking - there are very few places that deliver such quality in a burger, absolute must for a quality and reasonably cheap meal!

I do love this place. The range of burgers is fabulous with some quite different creations to get the taste buds going, with your usual beef burgers through to chicken, lamb, choirzo and wild boar. The milkshakes are fairly pricey but well worth it as you get masses of the stuff. All in all the place is fairly expensive, but the quality and freshness is worth it. There are usually deals about so use a voucher and you’re quids in. GBK is a mix of fastfood and waited service, as you order your food at the counter and pay beforehand, but you are served by the staff who are pleasant and attentive.

Gourmet Burger does exactly what it claims to do: serve a huge variety of gorgeous burgers. It’s not cheap, but the food is real quality, and the menu offers all kinds of options you would never have considered. The sides always go down well, and the real highlight for me other than the burgers themselves is a milkshake, served in a cold metal cup and big enough for 3 glasses. Also worth checking out the 2-4-1 deal on Mon-Thurs for students. You also go up to order yourself, which makes the whole process that bit quicker.

1st visit:

Really disappointing. dimly lit, no atmosphere and not very inviting. We sat down and looked at the menu. I went up ordered and paid. Had to wait ages. My friend’s burger was rare and cold despite asking for well done, mine was cooked (I say cooked but mean cremated) and though I ordered a simple bacon cheese burger with no gunk, it came swamped in mayo, relish and no bacon!
Oh and the chips weren’t cooked through, being raw in the middle

Rubbish. (no wonder they make you pay first)

2nd visit: I know I slated them in my first review but the other night I was craving a burger and turned to them out of shere despiration and was pleasently suprised to find the take-out really tasty, well presented and spot on. A big improvement. Of course, still just as expensive and after struggling on the phone to convey the same request of NO MAYO/RELISH but paying extra to convert a cheese burger to bacon-cheese was happy to find they got it right. So GBK I’m editing my initial review and upping the points.

Take out - GOOD
Eat in - AWFUL

This growing chain does what it says on the tin. If you like burgers, but feel you’re a little too grown up to to feel comfortable amongst the greasy teens in your average fast food joint, this would be more up your street.
As far as burgers go, you could do a lot worse. There’s quite a vast selection to choose from, whether you like them spicy, vegetarian, oozing with bacon and cheese or posh and herby there’s a burger to suit most tastes.
There’s nothing really inspirational about the restaurant its self, but for that burger craving, without the embarrassment of Maccy Ds, the Gourmet Burger Kitchen has it sorted.

Beware though, if you’re expecting to get a meal with change for a fiver….better go in search of Ronald McDonald!
