I was only in London for about 12 hours and I could have spent every last minute here at Borough Market. Each shop was like a little slice of heaven. I had a chorizo sandwich which was light, flavourful and oh so fresh, made right in front of me. I also able to have fresh sea scallops with crispy bacon and stir fry, also made right in front of me. How could I NOT have dessert? I had a plethora of choice for this so it was hard for me to decide. I ended up having a slice of cheesecake, chocolate éclair as well as an apple strudel like pastry.
Next time in London, I am going to be back to Borough Market!

Yum yum yum yum yum. I could keep going. Took my parents here a few weekends ago, and for them, whose idea of a food treat is the local Tesco Extra, it was a whole new world!
The tree of chocolate, the brownie tower, cheeses and fish were particularly impressive, although my dad also liked the fact that you could sample, and declared that if he were homeless, he’d simply hang around Borough Market all day and eat from there.
Best market stall of the day, in our view, was the wine stall, where you could buy an empty bottle (quite a fancy decorative one too), and fill it up with either the white, red or rose that they had in a barrell. We chose the rose, which was wonderful. The beauty of this is that you pay a deposit for the bottle, and the next time you take the bottle back to the stall to top-up you wine, you pay less, as a means of encouraging recycling.
The crowds of people are probably the only drawback, and you find yourself having to fight your way through. Saying that, the tasty treats more than make up for it, in my view. Prices aren’t cheap either, but what you get is such great quality, that it’s worth the investment. And in a way, you’re paying for the experience as much as you are the food.
Now, how quickly can I get back there…?

The number of reviews here represents the crowds of people that will gather… to half this number come on a Friday (be smart and come at 11:30am, not 1:00 (and then try and push your way through the people that work locally and are getting their Friday fix).
The only other thing I want to mention is the Pie Minister. Far and away the best pies (vegetable ones are amazing- filling and tasty) completing the organic market experience with cute, well designed recyclable packaging. It’s a win for everyone. If you have got amazingly luck and the sun is on your side take you’re lovely pie box and nip over to the church’s patch of grass nearby.

a really cool slice of London, id recommend taking people who aren’t from town here. a huge diversity of fresh produce on sale, lots of great places to eat so worth working up an appetite, perhaps in the many surrounding pubs or by walking along the river? starts winding down in the afternoon so its a morning / early afto experience.

Wonderful Market, great range of stalls so everyone should be able to find something of interest.
I would recommend visiting on thursday or friday though and staying away on saturday as it can get a bit too stressful at the weekend with the sheer number of people.

I love the market. But I have found that there are some stalls that really are a cut above the rest. On Friday and Saturday there is a Portuguese stall that has the best chorizo’s I have ever tasted. I really recommend that you try the spicy one, it’s beautiful. The marmalade and chutneys are almost orgasmic when in the mouth. The cheeses are sublime. There is a particular one that is gooey that when served with quince paste and bread gives you an instant foodgasm. Another wonderful thing about that stall is that everything isn’t too expensive. But what you are paying for is amazing quality of food.
Flour Power City are another one of my favorites, they offer lots of samples of bread, brownie and banana cake. If you go towards the end of the market day FPC (and many other stalls) often will flog off lots of stuff cheaper, so if you are in the mood for a bargain start lingering around half 3-4pm. You won’t be disappointed.

This place has every food you could want. A great selection of cheeses and unusual meats. They often have ostrich or venison burgers being sold. Most stalls offer try before you buy so you can have a sample of everything. It is very pricey though and its easy to get carried away with everything.
Lovely for a Saturday wander (this is the best day to go although there is a lot on a Friday too). Nice to take any London visitors to.

Brilliant place not only if you’re a foodie, but also if you have a few tourist friends looking for something different (after the hours/days of museums and galleries). I usually go on a Saturday simply because all the stalls are there (hence a good number of samples to try). But do expect it to be extremely packed at that time.
Highlights for me are the cheeses and the meats, though they aren’t cheap.

What a fantastic market! Thsi market is full of different types of food including chocolate, cheeses, breads, meats, pastas..everything to tickle your tastebuds and the smells are just amazing! I took my “foodie” sister and she loved it - she had never been to such a good farmers market - it was a real surprise for her.
The restaurants too in the surrounding areas are getting better and better - every time I go down there I find a better coffee shop, cafe or restaurant.

This is definitely worth a visit if you’re a foodie! There are so many different stalls all selling products that look (and often smell) amazing. The best time to go is on a Saturday, when all the stallholders are out, and many of the offer free tasters. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, but you’re paying for quality - and looking round is an experience even if you’re not planning to buy. For me, the highlight is the meat section - they sell some great cuts of unusual meats, like wild boar, venison and rose veal (raised humanely). The butchers, like all the stallholder, know everything about where the meat came from, and in my experience have always been very friendly. It can be very, very busy, so be prepared for crowds - and it’s probably not great for small children, at weekends anyway. If you can stomach the crowds, I’d recommend going around dinnertime - you won’t be able to resist the many ready to eat snacks that are sold, whether you fancy paella, carribean chicken or a wild boar sandwich.

This has to be one of my favourite places in London - I wish I lived closer. It’s definitely better to visit on Thursdays as it’s a little quieter, but it’s always fantastic! I always mean to just look round but end up feeling very full after buying chocolate brownies and cheese!
Best market in London!

I’d recommend going to Borough market on a Thursday simply because of how packed it becomes on a Saturday morning; whilst it may be tempting to head down there for some brunch to cure a hangover, I wouldn’t recommend it if you have a headache due to the sheer number of people and the noise.
That said, I love the fact that you can buy pretty much anything here and if you need a rare ingredient for a recipe, you’re bound to find it here. Equally, if you’re cooking for someone else and want to impress them with really fresh and good quality ingredients (or buy some superb cake and pass it off as your own!) than this is the place to come. Best saved for a treat though as prices are somewhat on the high side.

To me a day at the Borough Markets is like being in food heaven! One of my favourite markets in London. The food doesn’t come cheap but there are many little samples to tantalise your tastes. The array of fresh food and drink available here is impressive. Vegetarians don’t go hungry either! And for the meat eaters- there are even some more exotic meats up for try. (e.g Ostrich burgers). Lots of organic produce at this market. Let your nose and eyes guide you. A great place to bring friends or family who are visiting from out of town. It gets jam packed full of people so expect big crowds, best to arrive very early if you can’t stand the crowds. They do an excellent cup of coffee here and us authentic coffee drinkers know that isn’t that easy to come by in London! ;P Also I had the most succulent and delicious slice of banana cake I’ve ever tasted at the cake stall! Borough markets are a must do for lovers of good food!

Nostalgia or for that matter leather gloves (£150) don’t come cheap in this Palace of the Artful Dodger Paul Smith
Really if I see anybody wearing those dumpy looking sweat shirts with Paul Smith branded on the chest, I think I’ll shoot on sight.
Because he is totally delusional about the his own name and the value it adds to the chests of boys and girls, doesn’t mean you have to be. Remember its profits for him and what do you get? an old sackcloth of a sweat shirt with a commonplace name on it.
An IQ test you mutton heads is what is called for, if you buy one of these.
You could do the same with some paint yourself and scrawl your own name on your chest, in italics for the God Effect. That way too you would never get lost.
Think about it.

Near to the London Bridge and easy to access, this market offer a variety of good quality food from many countries.
As I’m french, I’d loved to go there to find good cheese, cooked meats, bread, vegetables…
Quite busy place but lovely to share with friends, family…
For tourists: there is the best Fish&Chips that I ever ate with real chips hand cooked and fresh fish

I don’t know if a food market can really qualify as a tourist destination, but it’s one of the first places I suggest my London visitors discover. Packed full of delicious, organic food sourced from local growers the choice is immense and most stall holders are happy to let you sample as you go. Start a visit to the market by picking up a latte from Monmouth Coffee, and happily snack your way through!
Open Thursday - Saturday.

I always suggest that friends and family that visit me go visit this place. It is definitely a place to go for food lovers and is situated as the name suggests 1 minute walk from borough tube station. The market itself is often shown on those daytime cookery shows when the presenters are looking for strange and interesting ingredients or when they are doing an out and about cooking slot.
The range of food there goes from farmhouse bries to wild boar meatballs (the latter I bought once and they tasted delicious!). If you are quite sneaky you can get a taster of most things for free so you needn’t even have to go out for lunch after!

This is the place for food lovers. The food are of high quality and the varieties are unbelievable. It is usually really pack with people and lots of tourists as well. I usually try to keep some cash before going. Although they are market food, they ain’t cheap and can be quite costly if you are easily seduced by the array of food displayed upon your eyes! There are raw stuff available as well, you it would be a good idea to get quality groceries for a proper home cook meal afterwards. I usually get lots of cheeses, sausages and bread before leaving the place.

Borough Market is located on the south side of the thames a short walk from London Bridge Tube. It runs on Sundays (and possibly Saturday too) and sells largely food products from around the world. A great market to stroll through if you’re feeling peckish as you can fill up on the free samples and enjoy the intoxicating aromas. Check it out.

to be honest, it’s getting a bit too pricey as time goes on for not much better quality. it’s also so busy at weekends now that a trip is a bit of a nightmare. still, the quality is still very high and there are things here you won’t find anywhere else - although most of the time I go not to buy and keep, but to buy and eat it there on the sopt (see: chorizo burgers and cake!)

If theres one 'must visit’ place to go in London it has to be Borough Market. Each day theres something different. Friday is definately the best day if you are hungry! My husband works nearby and every friday hes there for his lunch. Can be expensive but he loves the food.

I love the apple store just by the entrance. I love their organically produced apple juice (they do some other variety too) as it’s not too sweet and you can be assured they have no added any additives. Simply refreshing!

What can I add to the already fantastic reviews of the Borough Market. The food is fresh, organic, and most traders are generous and confident enough to allow potential customers to try out their produce / product before buying. I certainly recommend this as sometimes the taste of food for everyone is different. I often go on Saturday morning for brunch (Turkey Burger) and then spend a further £30 on freshest produce for comsumption the following week. Fantastic way of living London life.

Loads of hard to find ingredients in this traditional market setting. If you are a tourist its worth a wander I am certain you’ll find something you just must have! Lots of organic produce great venue - allow a while to look around, it can get very busy

One of the best food market in London. Most produce are organic, and if you fancy, try out the Turkey burger. Its juicy, delicious and not over cook. Highly recommended, however it can be pricey if you are trying to sample everything and not careful. But there’s a couple of ATM machinese just outside the market which can become very handy!

Borough market is well worth a visit. ON Saturday mornings it gets extremely busy but the atmosphere is fantastic. You can find all sorts of exciting foods and drinks and can sample most of them. I love the smell! And some of the cakes you can buy there are sooooo amazing! Things are not cheap though and I think you should be careful not to get ripped off when buying things as there are a lot of tourists there. It is definitely worth a visit even if just to take in the amazing atmosphere! It’s very easy to get to from London Bridge station too!

Borough is mecca for foodies. You won’t find much better round these parts. From the organic veg & face slapping fresh fish, to the most amazing cheeses (check out the gorgonzola from the guy next to the olive stall), Borough doesn’t disappoint.
Go Thursday morning if you want to avoid the masses, Friday is less busy than Sat but still pretty chocka..Saturday is a whole world of crazy, more tourists than you can eat, and doesn’t really afford you the gentle moseying from stall to stall that let’s you experience Borough that way it should be..
Word to the wise tho, take a heap of cash cos it’s ain’t cheap..

There’s nothing I like more than spending £20 on condiments and this is the place to do it. Really, I’m not being sarcastic. If you don’t believe me, seek out the spicy red onion marmalade and the truffle balsamic oil outside under the railway arches.
The best thing about Borough Market is the taste maze that you encounter. Most things are available to try before you buy. Sure, it didn’t work for the raw meat and fish, but the cheese, cakes, fruits and cured meats are grand. Who doesn’t love a nibble on a German sausage? If you’re particularly unremarkable, you could even wangle a free lunch, albeit on a taste by taste basis.
The produce here is reassuringly expensive. That’s because it’s the country’s best, don’t you know. The wild beef from the Highlands, the fresh venison, the eclectic cheeses, even the smoothies all stand up to the scrutiny of the foodies and the professionals that swarm here. And boy do they swarm. The market isn’t particularly large, but it takes a fair while to negotiate because this occurs at a mostly comatose pace. So relax and enjoy the experience of London’s best food market.

One of my favourite places in London, this market is packed with organic treats to tickle your taste buds. Fresh fruit, veg, organic meats and fish. Buy stuff to take away and cook yourself, or treat yourself there and then: sumptous takeaway coffees from Monmouth coffee, tasters of olives and dried fruits, or gourmet burgers. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s an occasional treat, not the place to do your whole weekly shop. Great just before Xmas.
