Lived in London all these years and never been to Borough Market til last weekend even though live in East. This has to be one of those great discoveries that people always go on about. basically you can walk around trying food from all over the world, hot and cold, drink cider and wine and spend the day in a culture bubble, its incredible and a great place to take your girl. Recommend the mulled cider if its there when you go.
Ah London! London! And fantastic Borough Market ! It is truly superb for foodies. Love it. Try the chocolate brownies, other desserts, and the grills. Bought some top quality chocolate here – basically you have to go and follow your nose (and lighten your purse a bit) :-)
used to work around the corner and every morning i’d walk through the market.
beautiful fresh food.
definitely a place to visit and taste a range of flavoursome food.
Definitely the place to go if you like food! Come with an empty stomach though because there’s so much to eat, and have a look around first to see what you want most. It gets VERY busy so don’t expect a peaceful stroll around unless you’re going right at opening time.
Today one produce stall had 5 avocados for £1! A steal in my opinion!! I wanted to buy so much but because I had a full day ahead of me doing other things, I decided to hold back and just get those and a nice falafel for myself. Nom-tastic :D
This is great place if you are up for a wander, don’t mind crowds and fancy a different bite to eat than your average pub. There are so many things to choose from, they have fresh oysters to all sorts of kebabs, they cater for all food speciality types such as vegetarian and vegan. It does get very busy with tourists but once you get a glass of something bubbly in your hand you’ll love to wander around all the little stalls and see what treats are on offer. Get a Christmas time to get some delicious mulled wine or cider to warm you up as you walk around.
One of my favourite places to go in London. I used to work nearby and it was an office habit to go for a wander on a Friday lunch time to buy a Venison wrap or Sausage sandwich. Long queues during the busy periods so try to get there early if you can…but as long as you’re not in too much of a rush it’s fabulous.
Loads of little gifts available to buy, but the highlights for me are the amazing cheeses in the ‘green’ market area and they always do some of the best chocolate brownies I’ve ever tasted. Friday’s the best day to go.
Truly a wonderful place for all foodies. I could spend hours just eating all the freshly produced food, mmm!
There is plenty of so much nice food…! mmmm
How has this place only got a four star rating??!
BM is the ultimate way to spend a Saturday morning. Mouthwatering samples call from every angle, sounds and smells and hustle and bustle make you feel like you’re stuck in a Victorian jigsaw. It can get overly crowded (I know this has happened when I find myself wandering around and inwardly screaming “Move move MOVE!!!” and staring with mad contempt at people who thought that bringing a pram would be a good idea) but then I eat more food and am happy as a clam again.
i have visited the market 3 times and i am always impressed with the range of food and drinks available. definately recommend it!
The best food market around a must vist.
Sooooo much better than sainsburys!!! Browse, buy and natter. So civilised. And so cool for people watching – my favourite pastime!

my most favourite Farmers Market-the place to buy delicious and unusual cheeses, fresh fruit And vegetable that tastes as it should-and check out the fresh pasta vendor. I also love the fresh steaks, fresh olives, and mini sausages. Lots of samples to try and a fantastic atmosphere. nearby pubs offer an array of delicious beers to refresh you whatever the weather brings.
With so much food to choose from, so many tasty sample, meals and beverages, you need more than one visit to this market to take it all in.
It is always bustling and vibrant whatever the weather and if you are a foodie you might even call this heaven.
The only problem is that it can get busy and there can belong queues. But this is a weekend activity, so as long as you relax and draw the atmosphere in – it should be a pleasant experience.
Absolute must visit, go simply for Roast’s pork crackling sandwich, cheese covered potatos and freshly made ravioli, not to mention the tea stall with every kind of tea under the sun, and the place that makes huge green curries in paella dishs. In other words go for the food, it’s delicious!!
THE best food market in the capital, period!
I just love grabbing ingredients from this place on Friday ready for the weekend ahead.
I miss Borough Market as soon as I leave. Great places to visit include the place that does yummy sausages in buns with the options of having extra onions and blue vein cheddar; coffee from Monmouth; various paprikas and other delights in the Brindisa shop; opportunities for great foodie photographs of game in the autumn and wonderful fish with their mouths propped gaping open; alligator and zebra meat for adventurous cooks; spiced hot pear cider in winter.
It isn't the cheapest place to get any of the ingredients, but a visit is an event in itself.
We only managed a brief visit to Borough Market this weekend but it means I have to come back for a more substantial mooch next time. It was fantastically busy and there was so much going on, but I managed to bag myself a tasty rump steak, rocket and mushroom bap from Maria's Market Cafe for £4.00 and a couple of chocolate brownies from the Flour Power Kitchen (dangerously delicious) before being whisked off for a matinee.
Well worth a visit - but not a whistlestop one next time.
Whagwann909 It’s the poshest market i’ve ever been to. Thanks for this will write a review on the place.

the Borough Market has some of the best fresh produce you'll ever find in London area. Plenty of stalls selling hot food, plus a fantastic selection of meats, cheeses and fruit & veg available.
I've only been on Saturdays and its always really busy.
worth a visit !!!!!
The city has something like 70 street markets which spring to life on weekends -- stroll down Portobello Road for antiques, take the tube to Covent Garden for street art, or head for the London Bridge and the old, venerated Borough Market for foodie-watching fun. Clothes and crowds abound at Petticoat Lane's market -- haggle on the leather jackets this street market's known for
