We were at a loose end by the river, and deliberating whether or not to put up with the slow food service at The Dove where we were currently drinking; Qype iPhone app to the rescue once again. A very short walk under the A4 and onto King's Street Hammersmith and we were there.
Minato is one of those little gems you would probably walk past if it weren't for recommendations.
The interior was relaxed and reasonably stylish although not too upmarket.
The service was superb. Typically Japanese, attentive and polite, and nothing was too much trouble. Top marks.
Most importantly, however, the sushi. It was fresh, excellent quality of fish, and very good value.
You might not make a special effort to go to this humble little sushi restaurant unless you are in the area.
But if you are - it's a real treat.

I love this restaurant, we found it totally by accident after having been at the cinema in Hammersmith. The prices have been around the same every time we go, about £70 for 4 (2 couples), we usually have some sushi, tempura and various main courses. Everyone always really enjoys what they have and we've never had any problems. We haven't had wine there but we usually have green tea and beer. The service is good, very friendly and helpful staff who aren't intrusive. The menu is extensive, with sushi, sashimi, noodle soups, tempura etc. Everything is fresh and tastes fantastic. I get cravings for this place, yo sushi just won't do after you've been here!
The decor is very interesting, with wooden tiles on the walls and it has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. You come out feeling relaxed and full, and it's not too far to the tube station either!
EDIT: last time we went I had salmon teryaki and it was beautiful, really well-cooked salmon and delicious sauce.

Hands down this is the best Japanese restaurant in West London, and one of the best in the whole city. If you are a sushi fan the sushi here is the freshest and best I have ever had and will make you not want to try anything else. I also ordered a Korean dish that came out on a steaming hot cast-iron bowl and had a raw egg in it that ended up becoming cooked. The staff are very helpful with your selections and you can actually watch the chef preparing each meal from scratch with the freshest ingredients. You will end up spending quite a bit but it’s not as bad as some other places where you don’t feel satisfied. Would go every week if I could
