Review of Everyman Cinema from 2 April 2013
Took the Children to see 'The Great and Powerful Oz' on Monday. We are a single wage family but although it was a little pricey, I thought it was worth every penny. Very helpful, effecient and polite staff. Extremely comfortable sofas that could fit 3 of us. Beautiful traditional building (They don't build them like this anymore!). The screens aren't huge but they don't need to be as they fit the scale of the building. This is the best cinema I've been to since they knocked the Odeon Lewisham down in 1985. If you've never been then I thouroughly recommend you go. You'll never look back.

Compared to other small cinemas in London this was not the best one: flimsy seats that you cannot sink into,  overpriced and  overzealous waiters who rattled on about specials and then periodically returned to ask if we wanted to order their 5 quid hot chocolates (we had about 6 approaches!).
Given that the tickets were already pricey I did not feel inclined to accept their offer.

This is the first time I have been at a theatre where I could sit on a sofa with my wife. Yes, the screen is small and the snacks overpriced, but the atmosphere is delightful and the personal attention from the staff very welcome. We did have a problem with our seat being wet, as if it had been steam cleaned (the showing before was for mums and tots) and was not fully dry yet. Thus the 3 stars, not 4.

It’s a love / hate review.

The Everyman Hampstead location used to show much more artsy films but of late has started showing mainstream crap you can find at your typical chain / mall cinema.

the seats are comfy but the wine and snacks are way over priced. A bowl of nuts and I mean a very small bowl of nuts is £3.

And the screen is really small. Better to watch your mainstream film from the comfort of your own home on your big screen TV.

if they started showing art films again, we’d go back. But for now, they’re showing the same stuff as all the other cinemas but on a small screen.

damn i miss living in muswell hill, where hampstead was a short distance to the best cinema around. yes, i have the baker street location reasonably close by, but its just not as nice!

the sofas and extra space at hampstead just make it a great place to have a night out.

i love the food and drinks options, so much better than popcorn and pick and mix! brownies, icecream and earl grey. yummy!

Review of Everyman Cinema from 25 April 2011

Do you remember the days when people used to go to the cinema to focus on the film and the atmosphere without talking over it or crunching on their nanchos? Yes..so do we. And that is why we love Everyman Cinemas. Admitedly the ticket prices are more than your average multi-plex but the bonus is comfortable seating with engaged adults who want to watch the film rather than chat on their mobiles. They have a great range of programming and often have arty / indie films on before the mainstream cinemas whilst also managing to cater for the mainstream and kids and showcasing the likes of blockbusters like Harry Potter and Iron Man.

All the Everyman Cinemas had a refurb (the newest being the one in Belsize). Yet this is our favourite. It's tiny and you could almost miss it just off Hampstead high street near a Greek Restaurant (we afraid we can't recommend that to any GF-ers). It really is like having your own private cinema. Comfy red chairs for the seating and ruby red curtains for the screen conjure up oldie worldie cinema. You can pay more for the 'couple sofas' or the side sofas. All the seats have cushions..well it is Hampstead darrrling so it's very civilised! One of the best things is the waiter service so you can order some vino and it stays chilled in your own personal cooler! Great for dates with a difference.

The quibble is...a very limited gluten free ranage of options (and the choice of snacks is very pricey for what they are). Of course all cinemas make their money on the snacks. Yet it's a shame that there's not much for Coeliac Cinema go-ers. If you're brave enough sneak your own GF snacks in with you (just make sure you don't sit next to us and rustle during the movie ok?!). Plus they have very old toilets which mean that if you're more than a size 10 or carry a large handbag you're bound to come out feeling like you need to hit the gym afterwards.

If you'd like more GF options email the Everyman Cinema group to show there is demand.

As we settled down into our overstuffed sofas and took a sip from our gin and tonics, the boyf slung an arm around me and sighed contentedly,

"This is just like being at home. Only you have to pay."

The Everyman Cinema Club offers a luxury viewing experience rivalled only by the Electric in Nottinghill. But, for a Highgate girl like myself, it's far more convenient.

Although the choice of films isn't great (although check screenings at Belsize Park - they tend to divide and conquer the big box office films) - only one or two every couple of weeks, the setting is sumptuous and the snacks are great (a very important part of cinema going for me).

One of the loveliest things about the Belsize Park venue is that they often decorate the reception in keeping with the film screening - think fake grass and pretty china for Alice and Wonderland, and Union Jacks and Gramaphones for The King's Speech - such a great touch, and really gets you in the mood for the film.

Now this is quite cool but it's overpriced and I sometimes prefer a movie with popcorn, not wasbi peas. At least the seats are very comfortable.

my bf took me on a date here to watch the simpsons.didnt understand why it was overpriced and this is the first time ive heard of everyman cinema!sure you get nicer food and drink options but the seats were too close together and didnt really have privacy.they were comfy enough to be on but again it would had been better if we had at least a little leg room to stretch.i thought the everyman cinema would be showing independent movies because of its calibre and where the location is but it was just the usual films on show!it is too overpriced

Sure, it's pricey. But not much worse than the prices at your nearest mega-plex. And the couple of extra quid are well worth it for the plush armchair and sofa seating, range of snacks and drinks available and in-seat service.

Screening a range of films, with occasional special cinematic events, this is a great place to rediscover a love of film if you've been put off by the latest hollywood trash/chattering teen masses/Michael Bay in your regular cinema.

It's petty, but it loses one star for not serving pop-corn. I know it's a bitch to clean up afterwards, but some things are just meant to go together.

Headed down to this cinema for a fantastic satellite screening of a new David Gilmour DVD “Remember That Night” for which the cinema screen was perfect and ever so detailed. A free Peroni and some lovely nibbles added to the ever so elegant sofas. Whether it be for singles or to snuggle up to one another with such plush pillows, this is the place for feeling good about yourself while watching a classic or the newest blockbuster.

Very posh, very expensive cinema with lovely seating and good staff. Loses a star for being called the 'Everyman’ - a contradiction as this is one of London’s most exclusive and pricey silver-screen venues.

The Everyman Cinema on Hampstead Hill is just a minutes walk up from the Hampstead tube station. Although the prices are about the same as Leicester Square cinemas (£12) the leather seats mean that it seems good value for money. The cinema has two screens and shows a mix of the latest blockbuster and alternative arthouse releases. There are refreshments at reasonable prices including a bar, and uniquely there is a floor serive so you can order food and drink from your seat. Sofas on the balcony of the main screen make this a perfrect place for a romantic evening.

good cinema but the pervading air of smugness amongst all who work there is pretty grim. it’s just a cinema guys, ok? that said they have done some nice work to the decor and it really feels like a different experience to going to the odeon or whatever. what i would say though is that the drinks and the food are a bit too smart for my liking. give me pick and mix over cashews any day of the week. but i understand the clientele want something different and the owners have decided this is what that is. but it can be smart and fun at the same time.

This is unlike any other cinema you’ve been too. The inside is beautiful with comfty seats and velvet cushions. It is a luxurious experience. The bar is very nice too and has a very wide selection of treats (you can even get green tea). It’s all at a great price too!

This used to be a place that showed good movies. Now it’s just a chic hanging out place where you can see a movie which you could go and see at the Odeon. Fine, except that it’s a waste of a nice little cinema which used to do good and exciting programmes. Admittedly in the past it was a bit of a flea pit but I still wish they’d renovated it and made it fun instead of going down the poser route.

Gorgeous, chav-free, classy cinema in the heart of Hampstead. It is expensive but worth the money as the atmosphere is so nice. You can even pay extra for a leather sofa!! They show a few mainstream films but also art-house and independents. My most memorable visit was to see Deep Throat (yes, the porn film!) on their big screen. They have a private bar in there too so you can relax and unwind with a glass of wine and a good flick. Wonderful place.

This is a luxurious cinema in the heart of Hampstead Village. If you’re bored of the impersonal mega multiplexes then this is definitely the place for you. The tickets can be a little on the pricey side but that is more than made up by the comfortable seating with acres of leg room. No more back ache for me!

There’s a full bar and a choice of gourmet snacks. They also treat you like adults and you can bring your alcoholic drinks into the auditorium.

My movie going experience has been enhanced by the simple pleasures of watching a film whilst sipping on a large gin and tonic and munching on Belgian chocolates.

As a big fan of independant films I first discovered this film when i went to see ’ The Edukators.’ I wasn’t expecting it to be such a comfortable experience. Every seat is so inviting and if you are going with a loved one you have the oppurtunity to rent a couch. Bring a blanket along and it feels like your at home. If you plan carefully you can make the trip very reasonable. The weekday matinees are about 8pounds per person. There is also a nice bar at the entrance of the cinema where you can have a drink or two before the film. You can even order drinks for the cinema itself.
