Compliment DrO2e (18-04-2008) 3

These guys were piling it high in the UK well before Lidl or Aldi turned up, and the similarity in operating practices might well stem from their Germanic origins: Netto is part of a Danish consortium, whereas I believe Aldi and Lidl are both German owned companies.

If the know the competitors, then you know the formula. Once you’re through the turnstiles it’s that from-the-palette cash-and-carry feel to it. No frills, no BOGOFs; if you know what you want and are happy to take a cheaper imitation with no discernible loss of quality, then by all means take a trundle down the aisles.

In addition to the regular foodstuffs stocked there’s usually quite a few weekly specials on household goods, like pans, electricals etc. These kind of places are perfect for cheap entertaining; house-price drinks and pretty good bites. Oh, and it’s not Tesco.
