Easily the best record shop around Brighton and even further afield. I like to listen to a varied range of music and have no problems in obtaining same from here. What they haven’t got… they soon get.! Great stuff and Thank you.
My favourite music shop in Brighton, always has a great collection of music new and old. Great staff too!
An established and loved record store - also sells tickets to anything local. It's worth joining the mailing list if you are really into the local live music scene.
I stop by when I'm passing because I feel you can never have too many pickup mags and there is no shortage of A5 freebie literature in Rounders, not just your alarmingly pulpy Brighton publications, but some far better offerings from further afield. If you have time to kill in town and are going for a coffee, then pop in here first for something to read.
Tess & Alice have got this place down well. I've got one modest addition: On the left hand side they've an eye-level shelf with a modest selection of great cult DVDs. It's no HMV & you won't find Mamma Mia, thank God, it's more like a mate with good taste has left his/her own stuff there! Check it out.
Proudly wearing its crown as Brighton’s oldest independent record shop, Rounder first opened its doors in swinging 1966, and has entertained the city’s musical masses ever since.
Invoking the same warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you walk into an old second hand book shop, the walls are lined with an impressive and unrivalled collection of pristine condition vinyl, while the middle isles house CDs.
Posters and flyers cover every inch, and rows of whiteboards detail the shop’s own chart as well as the best albums from 2009 right back to its humble beginnings in 1966.
Rounder has just about every genre going, from punk to drum ‘n’ bass, hip hop to classic rock, and sells tickets for local gigs and events.
A must visit for any self respecting music fan.
Brighton's most highly regarded record store, Rounder Records is located in The Lanes and is a proper, traditional record shop: think High Fidelity. Without a doubt, if you love your vinyl then this is THE best place to go – whether it's an old classic or a latest release – they've got a fantastically varied mix of music.
One of my favourite things about Rounder is the weekly-changing painted mural on the outside back wall, depicting whatever the hottest album of the moment is. It must take them ages, and I love that they bother to add such a personal touch. Inside the store, these individual touches continue – all the little signs, labels and recommendations are hand-written by the staff giving it a real independent feel.
The shop staff are always chatting away enthusiastically to customers and they have a turntable at the front of the shop where they'll happily let you whack on a record and listen to it before you buy. Effortlessly cool in it's shabby chic, Rounder Records should be your first point of call if you're a die-hard music buff.

This is the best record shop in Brighton by miles !
A small independent shop situated in a square in the heart of the Laines. Absolutely packed with vinyls and CD’s. Don’t just stock the predictable chart entries but have a huge range of lesser know artists.
This is a bit more than your average record shop as they are also a major outlet for purchasing tickets for local music events. If you are stuck for something to do then go and have a look at the huge number of flyers they have available.
Musical knowledge of the staff is brililant. Staff are always helpful and friendly. I’ve always been told that Fat Boy Slim once worked in there (but how true that is I’m not sure !)
Probably my favourite shop in the whole of Brighton, and that’s really saying something with the selection on offer.
It’s a small independent music retailer, but know nationally. Tucked away in the South Laines, it is bursting with vinyl and CD’s in addition to being a leading ticket outlet for gigs and events in the city. Nothing corporate about this place. One thing that seems to amaze me is that it doesn’t seem to matter who you ask about which genre, they all seem to be able to point you in the right direction. Additionally, as a keen vinyl collector, what I particularly like about this place, is that it doesn’t keep all the best stuff and big promos to one side for their mates - it’s all on the shelves and up for grabs. No trip to Brighton is complete without a trip to Rounder…
A great shop for new and used vinyl. I DJ myself and it is one of the first record shops I have used. It has a very good selection of vinyl and the people in there are friendly. All in all, its a highly recommend shop for vinyl in Brighton, for pro or bedroom DJ’s
One of the best known record stores in Brighton (and recommended by just about every single guide to Brighton), Rounder Records is the centre of chic record collecting.
With a good selection of almost every genre you can think of (with the exception of world music).
The staff know their stuff and are ready to recommend anything of any fashion, or get into a conversation about music.
The prices aren’t fantastic, but it is an independant record store and an important part of the local furniture.
