This place is a strange mixture of hotel and student campus accomodation. It also doubles as a small conference centre and training facility. My cousin stayed here last summer in a room that would fail the swinging cat rule -it was tiny but clean and even a little stylish. It had a downstairs bar that had a great student vibe and a good youth hostel style atmosphere. It was really cheap and possibly the best budget option for single travellers in Manchester.
