We love this place - kids disappear and we have a bit of a tinker ourselves - we’re usually there early to catch the first lecture/talk which is usually quite fun for the kids too - lots of oohs and ahhhs and “the stage is on fire!” - try to get into the cafe early to avoid the rush (food is 7/10) - also DONT miss the 3D stuff on at that IMAX, if you havent been before you wont be disapointed, even it your going to see a 2d movie its still well worth the money (AARRIVE EARLY as seat are not numbered)

We’ve been here quite a few times with the kids and would certainly go back. Plenty to do and see. It is pretty expensive but you can spend practically a full day there. The planitarium is well worth a visit

Lots of fun, the only problem is when I get here I have a hard time sharing with the other kids… I’m 24 and they are about 12 but still, its my toys not theirs!
There’s a tonne to see here, and its worth spending the little extra to visit the planetarium. The IMAX is fun to go and see as well … if there is something interesting on. I wouldn’t pay the entry fees for their own movies, but if there’s a big movie coming out then its worth paying a little more to experiance it in the IMAX.
Not a cheap day, but its still a fun one. Oh an don’t expect to get up the tower that spins in the wind… its never working (thats what you get when you spend millions on 'art’ without any thoughts on the reliability of it) .

A long overdue science centre in Glasgow…excellent day trip and a pretty cool building. Kids are well catered for with interactive exhibits that hold attention far more than just wandering around looking at things. Check out the prices on their website before you go but if you’re going to take the time to go round the whole place then it’s very worthwhile. Imax theatre is worth a visit as well…saw the Matrix there and it was impressive. Good for kids of all ages (the science centre…not the Matrix ;)

The Glasgow Science Centre is a brilliant place to take the kids any time of the year. There is so much for them to do in this place and they can interact with a lot of the demonstrations on show.
The Imax is also part of the Science Centre and it will absolutely blow your mind. The screen is enormous and the sound system is incredible. When Imax specialised films are shown on the huge screen you can see a world of difference from your standard cinema and Imax cinema. It really is mind blowing stuff and the kids will love it. They even have specialised 3D movies which are so cool! It really does feel like you can reach out and touch the things coming at you from the screen.

my boyfriend and i went to the science centre and we had a blast. normally, i would say that science centres are for children and families with children, but it had been decades since either he or i had been to such a place and it was so well done. the interactive activities are great to teach science and to explain how and why things work. we learned and relearned so much that day. the building is architectural genius and the fact that it is right next to the IMAX is a great selling point. i can imagine it being a perfect place for people on a rainy day when the best thing to do would be to go inside and fiddle around with objects to see how they fit together. great to find your inner child, or your inner scientist!

I took my two young sons to the Science Centre recently for the first time and I have to say we were all incredibly impressed with it. Despite hearing it was expensive, I though in comparison with many child friendly activities it wasn’t bad price-wise, and the cafeteria in particular was a lot cheaper than expected - approx. £12 for the three of us and we all had pudding!
The science centre itself could take days to get round. Unfortunately we missed the planetarium show that was appropriate for my childrens ages but even at that we had a thoroughly enjoyable day - the science show in the theatre was excellent and even my huffy 3 year old ended up being mesmerised by it.
We can’t wait to go back to catch up on all the things we didn’t have time to see. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a fantastic way to spend the day, with plenty to see and hundreds of interactive exhibits over 3 floors. To tie in with the cbeebies show, there is now also the nina and the neurons trail so all your budding little scientists will enjoy that aspect of the trip.
The centre also is home to Scotland’s only IMAX cinema, a Science Show Theatre, a Climate Change Theatre and the 127m Glasgow Tower (which has hardly ever been open since it was built unfortunately!).
It can be an expensive day our if you take the whole family, but you can use Tesco clubcard vouchers or you can often get a discount on tickets if you go to the science centre web site.
there is a large cafe on the bottom floor which is spacious and serves lovely food. There is also space to sit if you decide ot take your own packed lunch instead.

What a great day out!
The Science Centre is fantastic in that it’s entertaining and informative!
It’s especially great for children to visit and learn as it caters for all types of learners through the use of lots of interactive exhibits and activities.
The centre has been carefully designed to provide a fabulous experience for children of all ages!

A nice way to spend a day, even if you are not into science! Lots of exhibits on different levels, and they conduct workshops throughout the day for the kids which are not only fun but very educational. They also do lectures for the kids which makes science fun. The Imax is really good but I must admit I started to feel a bit nauseous looking at the screen - I think I was too near the front! Cafe quite expensive but good.

I’ve visited the Glasgow Science Centre three times. The first occasion was when it first opened. It seemed ill organised and my dad commented that the men’s toilets had severe leakage over the floors. It seemed reasonable although we noticed a few activity pieces were out of order (presumably not set up in time). The viewing tower had not opened yet either.
The two other times I visited I noticed that there were other things out of order. I guess that if it’s things that kids play with a lot it’s inevitable that things will break. The tower has never been working when I’ve been there.
The cafe is exactly the same as any other cafe you would get at a visitor attraction. I wouldn’t say that’s a positive or a negative.
By far the best thing there would be the planatarium. They do special shows at Christmas about the scientific explanations behind the shining star.
I haven’t visited personally but have heard many people talk about how good the IMAX is. If there was something good on soon I would probably visit.
If you just plan on visiting the planatarium you should look into visiting within the last hour or so of the visiting times as the prices are cheaper.

A great place to visit . My 4yr old LOVED the planetarium in it. The tower was great albeit a bit scary going up in the lift. Quite dear for a whole family but we used Tesco clubcard points to make it cheaper

This is a great place to visit for young and old big kids alike. There are plenty of interactive things to do including wind machines and mirrors etc, which entertains the children while learning, not that they realise they are being educated as they play!!. They hold various chemistry shows which are fascinating. The food can be costly but you are able to take a picnic then this is probably best. I have been a few times and never tire. A really good place to go.

I remember coming here back in the days for a school trip and I loved it as a Kid , I think i will visit again. Very educational visit with lots of touchy feely things and buttons to press so plenty to keep children entertained. It’s near the SECC and the building is nice with water surrounding the outsides.
good food at the cafe aswel.

I visited here with my 5 year old brother and at 24 I felt like the kid! It was really interesting and kept my brothers attention because everything was so hands on. There are 3 different levels full of little experiments and its great fun trying to guess what each one will do.
There are areas for eating which looked very nice but was very expensive.
For an extra £2 we were able to see a 3d film at the imax cinema next door called dinosaurs alive. This was amazing as you actually felt like you were in the film.
I think my brother gave the best description of the science centre when asked by our mum where he had been and he replied “I was where all the fun is!”

The Glasgow Science Centre is a brilliant place to take children and it is very enjoyable for the adults also.
As well as all the interactive exhibits, which are really interesting and make scientific phenomenons more easily understandable you need to keep an eye out for presentations of interest in the little auditorium. These can be great fun with members of the audience being asked to participate in experiments if they wish.
There is a lovely cafe that serves nice food but, it is quite expensive. As it can be a costly to get in it’s not a bad idea to bring a picnic with you if you have quite a few children with you.
The building itself is interesing and it is quite pleasant, on a sunny day, to spend some time outside as well.

Another place aimed solely at kids and no one else which is a shame as the rest of society likes to learn too! Bit expensive for a day out, certainly makes me think twice, and you pay for additional things when you are in - planetarium, tower… A couple of interesting exhibits but adults can breeze through in a pretty quick period of time if you haven’t purchased add ons. So, good one to keep the kids entertained but if you are an adult only group, a dear afternoon.

This is a must for anyone with children. There is so much for them to do and to experience. I must agree with those who’ve pointed out the expense for large families but it is worth it as it is a full day out if you want it to be.

Got a year pass for this place and it’s been well worth it. 3 floors of science stuff such as mirrors, image cameras, wind machines, whirlpool & electro ball, span bridge and Nina & Neuron Trail. Free ticket to plantarium with year ticket and we go most times in glasgow for a couple of hours. Top floor changes theme twice a year with exhibits such as middle eastern science exhibit and Nanotechology & Electro microscope images recently. Heard London Science Centre is free and this should be also.

Great day out for the family, plenty to see and do for all. The best thing is that it’s all interactive which captures the attention of younger kids more than a regular visit to the museum. If you’re taking a large family it can prove expensive so I would recommend that you check out any offers available on their website and take along your own food - though there is a cafe on site. Check out the IMAX next door if you want to make a day of it
