Review of Landcommanderij Alden Biesen from 19 April 2008
Built by the Teutonic knights, this castle is also known for hosting the biggest storytelling festival in Europe - 19,000 tickets sold every April!
To be honest, my average rating is just because I am not such a fan of castle tourism, but I am sure it is a fine example, and is now a cultural centre for the Flemish community.
There is also hostel style accommodation available, and wonderful grounds and fields to walk around, with the village of Bilzen (population 1000) a couple of kilometres away.
