one of the few joey holts left in town, lagers like loopy juice but really cheap and defiently an acquired taste. all big in size like most of holtsy but haven’t sold out to the big boys yet. can’t comment on the food but if you get sick of all the polish and modern bars, get down to the joey

The ape and apple is a great great Holts’ pub right in the city centre.
It has the lounge upstairs and the proper bar downstairs, just like the Old Monkey.
The beer has always been good when I’ve been there and the pub is your average, honest pub grub. No doillies or fanciness, just real, honest pub grub.
The service could be improved but that adds to the atmosphere!

There are not many city centre pubs like this in Manchester any more. It is friendly, cozy and serves a good pint that won’t break the bank. The barmaids are loud and funny and even the old locals will sit down and chew the fat with most strangers. I visit once in a blue moon and I am far from a regular but still feel more welcome here than most other places. There is an olde worlde interior that could really do with some work but defiuantly refuses to modernize - a great boozer
