I've been going to Doodles for years. It's such a relaxed, enjoyable place to be - perfect if you're making a special gift, or even just to spend an afternoon painting something just for fun. The staff are friendly and always welcoming.

Doodles workshop is a lovely place to go for tea and painting! People from all ages can go and I've gone for a hen night, family day and out with my mates. You've got the freedom to paint so much stuff
Like plates, teapots, animal shapes and gnomes! You can also do hand and foot imprints and casts of baby bumps or torsos. You can paint for as long as you like and the atmosphere is very chilled. The staff are really helpful but more for the kids than adults. It's a great place but NOT CHEAP. I painted a teapot and it cost me £40. I wish it was cheaper as we would go more often.

A very creative and fun place and even more inspiring if you get to meet the founder - which I was lucky enough to do when I was on the Prince's Scottich Youth Business Trust grant/loan board when her startup application was being considered. Her energy and enthusiasm was infectious and there was absolutely no hesitation in approving her startup finance.

I think it's now over 10 years later and I'm massively impressed.

Just take a look at the gallery and you'll want to go :)

I become a bit sentimental when I have to talk about ceramic painting since I have very dear memories of painting my fist mug with a gracious black cat wit cute green eyes and pink nose whose tail merged with the handle of the mug... Anyway, Doodles is a great place for fun, where you can celebrate your party and smudge, splash, doodle your own design on a pottery item of your choice. The shop staff will glaze and make it ready for use after 3 days of proper treating. You can bring your youngest family members and spent a unique day of creativity and excitement.

Doodles is on Marchmont Crescent just off the Meadows and can be reached on the 41 and 24 buses. Doodles is a “Ceramics Workshop” where you can pick out a piece of unfired ceramic, paint it how you like and have it fired. You can paint anything from a small plate to a teapot, it’s a good place to make a little keepsake for that special occasion. I heard about Doodles when my firstborn was a newborn, lots of people were getting footprints or handprints of their newborns which is a sweet idea and a great present for new Grandparents. We ended up making two plates with footprints on and a xmas ornament with our baby footprints, they are very special items to us still!

Doodles is the original and best pottery painting workshop. I say this because The Ceramic Experience recently opened directly across the road from it, but it is Doodles that offers the more enjoyable experience. Children (and adults!) can go there and test their artistic skills, by hand-painting a variety of ceramic items - mugs, plates and even vases. It is an ideal place to go to allow your child to design a gift for someone - a gift that will hopefully MEAN that little something more to whoever gets it. It’s all about the personal touch and at Doodles you can set your kids free on a vast paint palette (and not worry about having to clear up the mess). What’s more, the staff are friendly and really help add to this fun experience.
