Hello there,
I have been going to PIX in Covent Garden for the past 8 months. Lunchtimes and after work. I have always enjoyed it and introduced new friends and clients to it. However, I will not be going again any time soon due to a similar experience. I called ahead to book, the girl on the phone advised we did not need to. We arrived and were seated and greeted with ‘we will throw you out in 60-90minutes’. (it was said in a jovial manner) I inquired about this 60-90 minute concept. They said it was there ‘rule’. I had never experienced it before in spite of being there for longer than 90 minutes. We were about to leave at the 90 minutes however the waiter/barman asked if we would like to move to the bar which we did. After 30 minutes, a girl who seemed to be in charge of the staff, approached our sticks in our container and began counting them. She then advised she was preparing our bill as we had to leave due to their rule. We had not finished our drinks and were still enjoying food. We were shocked but before we could comment, we were greeted with, ‘im not trying to piss you off ladies, it s just our rule’..?!..This was a strange confrontation coming from a member of staff ‘serving’ us. I then took the opportunity to express my disappointment of our evening and asked how long this ‘rule’ had been in place. The girl waved a menu in my face and said, ‘since these new menus’..I asked again,‘how long is that?’.. The reply..‘A year’, I mentioned it was new to me and have never been put under that pressure before there. The girls response was ‘its like the IVY’..I said ‘we re not in The Ivy..We are in a tapas bar’. The girl snapped at me with..‘It s a business’ and literally stormed off. The young bar men approached us and apologised. We suggested maybe mentioning this ‘rule’ next time someone calls up to pre book. And maybe mentioning on the website which gives a very different impression..“a uniquely relaxed and free-flowing experience, where you’ll always leave feeling replenished – whether you’ve got twenty minutes to spare, or two hours” On Please note – I spend on average £60 at this venue at a time.
I think the food is set at a fair price. The drinks are more costly but think it all balances out. The customer service from the young girl – really poor.

All in all - one of the best low key eateries in Covent Garden.

My partner came across this place. There two Pix Bars in London. We went to the Pix Bar at Soho, the other one is at Covent Garden. There used to be another one in Westbourne Grove as well, but it is now closed down. Another bar/cafe has taken its place. Every time I pass by, it is packed. It must be good. I am sure to pay a visit there sometime too.
We got there around 3pm, so lunch time was over and it was pretty empty. I heard it does get really busy during lunch and dinner times.
For the price and the food served, Pix-Bar will be on low-mid end food bar. Food was well made and tasted good, however nothing to shout about. Very affordable. Within £30 we able to have 8 pintxos and half a bottle of Manzanilla.
Excellent place to get together with some friends for some drinks and nibbles. Definitely recommend it. I will definitely come here again. However, I will also like to try its sister bar at Covent Garden. I will write all about it when I do.

My girlfriend booked the space at the back for her birthday, for a party of about 15. Having been there a while, the barman told us there was a 90 minute maximum to each booking or we had to spend £1500, something not mentioned previously. We were told we had to leave as there was another party arriving.
Having negotiated a little longer, we were then told in no uncertain terms to go, and accused of not paying for some food/ drink (bills left on a table where other people had been sitting but had since left).
Over-priced, thoroughly unpleasant staff, and a rediculous method of billing.

excellent and intimate, a real find. It is small you take your chances if you drop in on spec, however you can book in advance if you have a party night in mind.

This is one of those places you almost don’t want to review in case a barrage of new business ruins the experience, but on the other hand, it deserves the credit. What an awesome place – there are others, one in soho, but the atmosphere, the gorgeous and friendly staff, the food and the mojitos make this place unbeatable. Based around Catalan tapas, the food is to die for, and the idea of each dish having a tooth"pick" which is how they charge for the food, genius. Highly recommend the meatball dish and fried balls! I now come here about once a fortnight and it’s great for dates/ informal business meetings/ or catching up with friends. Try and get a table near the front though, the back can be quite loud if there’s a party on.

Congratulations on a truly superb place at Covent Garden. It’s not just the food and wonderful wine, but the service is first class.
Last year my partner and I were looking for a tapas bar and we quite literally stumbled on Pix. What a find! We were back again in July this year and were delighted to see that the lovely barman (who looks like Johnny Depp is still there) and still delivering great service. Service that is caring and listening to what we want. We were so looking forward to this second visit and we weren’t disappointed. We sat in the window from 6.30pm until way after 11pm. Eating the wonderful tapas and enjoying the wonderful selection of wine.
I’ve recommended Pix to friends who will be going to London later this year.
Wishing Pix much success for the future. A great example of how a business should be run.

I would not go there again. The price for a sangria jug was more than £20 which is ridiculous. Tapas are tiny by the way. And they look like they have been out of the counter for long hours. They tasted ok but still… it is not a nice thing to see tapas on top of the table for hours… hmmm…. I am Spanish that is why I tend to compare this place to a real tapas bar in Spain. Conclusion: the price at this Pix Pintxos is ridiculous and tapas are tiny.

what a great little bar in Covent Garden with a very European feel. I love the self service food and the wine is just amazing.
Just wish the seating was more comfortable and there was more of it! If you don't get there early it's just too busy. I guess too many people know about how great the place is!

I love Pix. It reminds me of being in San Sebastian - authentic and delicious. It's a perfect in-betweener when you want something to line your stomach while you're out drinking but dont want a full-blown meal. Much better than the revolting deep fried yellow foods most English pubs serve for bar snacks.

Really like this place! It's a great little place to have a few after work drinks and grab a bite to eat. I love how all the food is displayed and you can just pick the Pintxos that you want, although I quickly learnt that my eyes are definitely bigger than my belly! Very tasty and the relaxed and informal atmosphere makes it perfect for socialising.

I went to Pix with my Spanish girlfriend on Thursday 18.11.2010 at about 10pm. We went in and asked for a Mojito. Alas, no mint was left. So we asked for a Caipi. The guy at the bar took the 'phone, made a call and told us that there was no lime left. That was when we left.

This tiny tapas bar opened recently in Covent Garden, taking the place of one of Neal Street's old cake shops. Initially it doesn't look like much - the few tapas samples sitting out in the window didn't particularly tempt me - but having been persuaded in by a friend I was very glad I gave it a try.
The wine here is served in authentic Spanish style stemless glasses, and is probably the best thing about Pix. There's a good selection of top quality stuff, at reasonable prices. The pintxos themselves are also pretty good, tasty and fresh, and made a great accompaniment to the wine.
The best time to visit this branch of Pix is in the summer, when you can sit out on the pavement in the bustle of Neal Street's shoe shopping crowd. We felt like we could easily have been in Madrid or Barcelona as we say there enjoying Pintxos on a sunny spring day. Great for an antidote to shopping!
Pix gets pretty busy and lively on Friday and Saturday nights, so be there early to avoid disappointment (table space is quite limited). But the staff are really accommodating and offered us two whole plates of free tapas after a bottle of wine (which they also replaced) was corked. Definitely above the call of duty!

I work on Shaftesbury Avenue and tried Pix for the first time with a few colleagues last week.
Having been to the pintxo bars of Barcelona and San Sebastian, I guess I had an idea of what to expect, and this place certainly didn't disappoint.
The food is delicious, and at £2.50 a pop seems reasonable to me. I would say that 6-8 pix would equate to a two-course meal, so at £15.00 - £20.00 per head it's no dearer than your average High St chain restaurant - only much, much better.
The site is small and buzzy, with a kind of New York meets Barcelona vibe. The staff are very welcoming (despite the dark exterior) and I have no doubt it will become one of our regular haunts. Well done!

I could not rate this place as anything but a waste of time, left hungry and spent a lot of money.
Seriously, what is the idea of serving canapes at such a high price! We (only 2 of us) paid nearly £40 for two glasses of wine and canapes to fill us up. Tried to speak with the manager but he was too busy??!!

They were giving the food away last time I went! Admittedly it won't fill you up, but I don't think it's really supposed to - and although the wine isn't cheap (it's decent quality) you could get it cheaper than that (we paid £22 for a bottle)
